Wahaca Cardiff - Spicy food stylish interior

16/01/2015

We were over the moon to hear that the Mexican Street Style food chain Wahaca was coming to Cardiff - it's first restaurant outside of London. Located in St Davids Two, the first things you notice when walking in is the large open space, high ceiling and hanging lights, stylish seating area and welcoming atmosphere.

When we got there the place really felt alive, with lots of happy customers, tables of friends and families enjoying what was on offer and lots of colour and intriguing smells, we couldn't wait to be seated and have a chance to look at their menu.

Wahaca Interior

To start we shared the Guacamole with baked Tortilla chips, which I highly recommend as it was creamy and smooth with a hint of chilli and the presentation was also very pleasing to the eye. I also decided to treat myself to a non-alcoholic Mocktail in the form of the delicious Virgin Mojito which I know I will be ordering next time we are there.

When it came to mains John went for Wahaca Street Food selection which comprised of different small tacos, tostadas and a quesadilla while I went for the Sonora Salad with Black bean and Corn Salsa which really was little bit different from any other salad I have had as it come served in crispy tortilla bowl. It was delicious although the only thing I would point out is that it was a lot hotter than I expected.

Now I have to admit we usually don't have desserts on an evening out but being pregnant and it's being a rare date night for the both of us we decided why not and within keeping with the Mexican theme we opted for Churros with a deep chocolate sauce - the perfect way to end the evening, or well in Johns case that and a Hibiscus Margarita

Overall we really enjoyed the food which was fresh, seasoned well and served by friendly staff. The atmosphere is great as is the interior and they have a great selection for both Vegetarians and meat eaters and we cannot wait to go back and try out the kids menu with Mr A.
