It is not unusual for people to feel exhausted at the end of their working week, especially at this time of the year. While there might not be as many manual jobs as there once were, the mental strain that is put on the body has never been greater. Much of this can be put down to continual advances in digital technology, which while sometimes making things more accessible and quicker, also has its drawbacks. It also means that we are working longer & more unsociable hours than before and we don't always get that much-needed downtime on weekends and evenings. Being constantly available online can lead to burnout and street and there are going to be times when we all need to assess our work-life balance and make time to prioritise wellbeing. There are a variety of things we need to keep in check, such as our sleep, diet and overall posture and physical health so booking an appointment with a health professional may be needed, such as Physio in Camberwell online. 1. A visit to a......

We often dream of living a more fulfilling and positive lifestyle, but the pressures and responsibilities of daily life often mean balancing work, parenting and wellbeing is really hard. Many will relate to this problem. We also find there are fewer opportunities to treat ourselves as many indulgences, even small ones like going to the movies or grabbing a drink with friends, seems like a waste of money that could rather be spent on something 'useful'. However, in this internal struggle, we can forget that our happiness and mental health are paramount. It is necessary to set aside time to look after your needs and you don't need to put a dent in your wallet to do that. There are small and easy steps you can take to improve your overall lifestyle that will help you feel happier and more fulfilled every single day. Here are some ideas Embrace the outdoors Humans were not built to spend 24 hours a day indoors, moving their attention from one screen to another. We need to spe......

3 easy ways to get a better nights sleep
*This post contains affiliate links Falling asleep can be a real challenge (it's something I struggle with), especially when you're awake at 3 a.m, staring at the ceiling waiting for dawn. My mind often goes into overdrive at night and I struggle to drift off or settle but while this is of course very tiring in itself I do know that there are healthy sleep habits one can do to prevent this and that is what I am going to be working on this year. I've done a fair amount of research showing several habits and practices that I really meant to help improve your chances of more restful slumber. Some of the changes are pretty minor, which can feel less overwhelming for those with busy lifestyles or shift work. This is what I have learnt so far and will be trying out this year in an aim to get more sleep because as we all know a goodnight's sleep can have a huge positive impact on our health and well-being, Turn your Bedroom's Environment into Sleep- Inducing One Did you ......

Going Ape for these plant-based snacks
This post is part of the Ape snacks x Mumsnet partnership As a family we are always trying to make small, healthy changes to our daily lives, one's the kids will approve of that are easy to implement and sustain. While I am vegetarian, not vegan, I do try and bring as many plant-based meals and treats into our daily lives as I can and with such tasty snacks such as the new Ape Puffs which come in three different flavours, including Really Cheesy which has recently been awarded the Mumsnet Rated badge. We spend a lot of time outdoors so taking food with us is key for helping keep those hangry moments to a minimum, as well as being the more budget-friendly option for a family day out. I always put together a well-balanced pack with some water, fresh fruit, maybe a sandwich or two and some treats such as a pack of crisps or cereal bar - this will usually keep us going for a few hours and the same can be said when it's raining outside and we decided to have a bit of an......
*Contain Affiliate links Health is our most precious asset and also one of our most elusive. Looking after our health requires time, and time, as it happens, is often lacking in these modern times. That’s why most people look for time-saving strategies to manage their health. Ultimately, when you work long hours throughout the week, it’s unlikely that your health problems land on top of your to-do list. Not that people don’t want to take care of themselves, but more often than not, our health is taken for granted until it becomes an issue and we really start to feel that burn out. Often when we do start to struggle with unpleasant symptoms, many are more likely to consider a self-healing approach before seeing a professional, as long as it's fairly minor such as exhaustion, feeling run down, low immunity etc this approach can save you time and money. I believe in the power of self-care and a natural approach but of course if you are concerned about anything seek the ad......
As you may already know I am working with the awesome organic food company that is Little Freddie this year and recently told you all about the steps they are taking to be more sustainable by launching the UK first pouch recycling scheme, do read more about this positive initiative. Being a busy mum on the go I can say first hand how important it is for me to make sure I have some healthy snacks on me at all times to avoid those hangry moments but also so I know they are getting all their nutritional needs met. Having successful weaned two children know I feel like I have something to offer in ways of practical advice for those parents out there who are juggling it all, working, parenting, school runs, play dates, weekend adventures, family trips and everything else life throws at you and at those times if often when we let things slip such as well balanced family eating. Little Freddie have recently launched their new range of healthy smoothies and finger food to help mak......
National Stress Awareness Day took place this week and it's something I feel it's important to talk about as stress is something I have certainly struggled with over the past few years and it can cause real havoc for both your physical and mental wellbeing. I think we are more aware than ever that more and more of us suffer from things like stress and anxiety and it's easy to see why life has become increasingly manic and busy as well as more expensive with longer working hours and less free time. Living in today's world is massively different to our parent's generation and even when I was younger, it wasn't really until I was in my teens that mobile phones were even accessible to the masses (anyone remembers beepers?). In today's busy times we find ourselves having to navigate real life, online life, social media, heavy workloads, lack of support, kids, family and everything in-between and it's exhausting I find it's really important to know......

Covering the bases with Bassetts
While both of my boys enjoy a well balanced diet, packed with fruit and veg and are fairly open minded to trying new things, we are a very busy and active family and always on the go and while I always cook from scratch when we are rushed we sometimes opt for the safer meals such as pesto pasta or baked potatoes that are quick to whip up and I know they will enjoy. On more organised weeks or when we are not travelling I like to explore with new dishes, some have great success and other times not so much as my eldest can be fussy at times and while my youngest isn't he tends to follow suit with whatever his big brother is doing. Like most parents I take an interest in my children's nutritional intake and want to know I have all bases covered and there are times when we have hardly been at home between school, after-school activities and weekend breaks away. The trouble with kids is finding a multivitamin that tastes nice and isn't a chore to get them to take and can easi......

My morning Elixir
So far this year has been somewhat up and down for me in terms of health and wellbeing. At the end of last year I felt really burnt out both physically and emotionally after nearly 3yrs of interrupted sleep as we have struggled to get my youngest to sleep through the night (something which is still problematic) as well as extended breastfeeding, working, juggling motherhood, sleep deprivation and losing some people very close to me to cancer. Well the time has come to work on myself because it really is true that as mothers we tend to look after everyone else's needs before our own. I think making small changes in the home is really important because these are more doable for the long term. I am going to bed a bit earlier each night so should my youngest wake, which he does 90% of the time, I at least got in a few hours before being woken. Also getting outdoors at every opportunity as the fresh air I find really helps put things in perspective. I am also working on being mo......
