The Striped Tee

I love loose-fitted tees and stripes so this blue and white one was perfect to go under a nice winter jacket. I also picked up these boots for only £25 from Peacocks - now I know I should invest in better ones but since we are moving we are on a major budget and these should see me through the winter and out of all the shoes I tried on in H&M, Topshop, New Look and Dorothy Perkins these were the ones I went with. I am loving my new Fred Mello military jacket and paired this with an old pair of jeans from H&M and a necklace from House of Fraser.

Red Hot Halloween Fun

So on saturday I had the wonderful pleasure of trying out some amazing mocktails and cupcake decorating at Red Hot World Buffet in Cardiff which are putting on a while Halloween spooktacular this Tuesday which invites parents and kids to dress up and enjoy a gourmet ghoulishness fest. I had so much fun decorating my cupcake in little pumpkins and various icing and fondant and my take on a scary gingerbread man didn't exactly turn out how I imagined but was very enjoyable.

The staff where really friendly and on hand to help, including a short little magic show. The barman was very knowledgeable and created some sweet tasting mocktails that where friendly for the whole family, except maybe the one with red bull, my son is pretty much a made hatter as is so giving him anything else to stimulate his energy levels would not be a good idea.

I also got to meet fellow blog Bev from Eats for Wales who reviews various different eateries across Wales. It was a great day out and a lot of fun and I am going to be back for a meal very soon.

Snood love

So I was out in Cardiff the other day and realised I left my scarf at home and with this Arctic weather at the moment was frozen so thought I would pick up a cheap one, but when I went into H&M and saw this super soft snood for only £4.99 I knew I had to have it. I have tons of scarfs so there didn't seem like any point wasting money on another one but I didn't have a snood in my wardrobe after losing my one last season. So happy with this bargain buy.

St Davids Fashion Show

This Saturday was a day packed with fashion and blogger fun as St Davids 2 in Cardiff was putting on a catwalk show (part of Cardiff Fashion Week) of all the latest trends and also held a little blog meet up in Jamies. It was so great to meet and talk with other fashion and beauty bloggers, even though it was very cramped and we didnt get the chance to say hi to everyone the bubbly was flowing and it's not that often that John and I get the chance to go out that much. There were some lovely little nibbles on the tables and everyone looked amazing.

Cardiff Fashion Show

After the blog meet up we all went outside to watch the last catwalk show of the day. The stage was lit up and there was a really great atmosphere. With labels such as Coast, River Island and CK underwear showing off their current collections there was something for everyone and I loved the incorporation of dance into the show, the models must of been professional dancers as it was fun, lively and very well choreographed. Here are some highlights from the night

After the show John and I popped into Yo Sushi for some yummy veggie sushi and then a cheeky cocktail at The Downstairs Bar before heading home. It's really sad that this years - Cardiff Fashion Week is over, but it's been great and cannot wait for next year.

Bon Prix for the family

So we were asked by Bon Prix if we would like to review there new autumn collection for the family and since this was a company we had never considered before we kindly accepted and waiting with anticipation to see what the garments would be like. Now Bon Prix is not a luxury clothing company by any means but it is a successful french fashion company that provides quality items at very reasonable prices, and having a child, that is important to us. Bon Prix started in 1986 with 3 employees and now employes over 1200 across europe and I have to say I have been very impressed with their customer service and prompt delivery.  When the package arrived Mr A couldn't wait to get straight into it and open it up and he loved his little jumper as soon as he saw it. It's so soft and thicker than most jumpers which has been perfect for this colder weather and the hood is fleece lines and it has a fun nordic style print on it. It retails at £12.99 and we know he is going to get a lot of use out of it this season.

I was sent a cable knit dress, which is something I wouldn't usually wear so it was nice to try something new. It was a really crisp day when we took these photos but I was nice and warm in this dress as it's a really thick knit and perfect for winter walks with Mr A.  I paired it up with my creepers for a little bit of fun and just to make it a little bit more me. The cable knit dress is currently sold out by retails at £19.99

John was sent a Norwegian jumper which is perfect for daily wear, especially when Mr A is up to his cheeky ways and you don't know what may be thrown at you. It fits well and has a good finish and is perfect with jeans. The Norwegian jumper also comes in festival designs and retails at £22.99

Overall we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the items for the price they retail at and it's prefect for daily wear and for families on a budget wanting well-finished items with a touch of design and current trends and they also have some great children's wear. You also have the option to by now and pay later. Here are a few more looks from their latest collection, it has a real festive feel to it.

Ohh la la La Creperie

So we have been meaning to try out La Creperie De Sophie since it opened in the High Street Arcade. I love all things french and have fond memories of the crepes I use to eat on my day off when I lived in the South of France so when living social (similar to groupon) was running an amazing deal a few weeks back I jumped at it, I mean I didn't need and excuse to being with but getting such a good deal we had to try it out. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and I am a true believer that good customer service goes a long way. The inside is light, bright, and french cute and has a really lovely vibe and invites you to take your time, chill out and relax, which is what we did, in the cute little bare brick basement downstairs. We both went for savoury options, mine was a vegetarian combination of red onions, mushrooms, herbs, cheese and salad leaves and Johns was a chicken delight. The crepes felt really authentic and well worth the wait, with all the ingredients being fresh and so yummy. You get great value for money with the portions being quite large - in fact I had to get John to finish mine because I was so full. My soya coffee was also made to perfection and John who is quite the coffee snob also commented on how nice his was.  We will be back for sure and they are now doing Crepe and Cider nights through December - check their website for more information - La Crepe De Sophie

This week we also managed to get out in the autumn sun and spent a few hours in the park collecting pine cones and sticks and all things lovely to add to our nature table we are making for Arthur. I love this time of the year.

River in Cardiff

So I was walking through St Davids 2 today after an interview and decided to pop into the new River Island store - for some reason tend to overlook River Island, i'm not sure why, I suppose I tend to go to Topshop or Urban Outfitters of H&M if I am going to shop on the high street - otherwise I am a huge fan of vintage, thifting and charity shops. I was very pleasantly surprised though by the slick and chic floor layout, as a company they have seemed to mature a little and I really love there mullet dresses and leather look jackets.

Please note I have not been asked by River Island to do a review, this is simply my own point of view.
Here are a few things I would love to have in my weardrobe at the moment

River Island
Black Waterfall Jacket £60

Ball clutch
Gunmetal Design Forum Ball clutch £35

Prom dress
Cream Jacquard and lace dress £80

Sequin maxi dress
Light Pink sequin maxi £40

Cardiff Fashion Quarter

So it's official, Cardiff Fashion Week has started! With loads of fashion inspired events happening in and around the city, there is a real buzz around town. On Saturday 20th Oct it was the official launch of Cardiff Fashion Quarter in Womanby Street, which is housed in a former cinema. The outside of the building has been adorned with amazing spray painted artwork and the inside is just as bohemian and creative with lots of different and eclectic stores filled with vintage fashion, art work and oddities. Cardiff really needs something like this, an alternative to the high street and I really hope it does well. There was a a great atmosphere with artists, students, fashionistas and the DJ spinning some good tunes in the background it's a place you want to stay for a while and spend your time looking through the treasure trove that is Cardiff Fashion Quarter.

I really wish the best of luck to this venue and I will be visiting this haven of independent shops often as it really is a great venture that need to be supported.
