2014 Travel Wishlist

travel inspiration

We managed a few adventures last year, lots of camping and festivals which we hope to do this summer as well expect with a few more overseas trips as well, last year longer trips were on hold due to purchasing the new house but we have put together what we see as a fairly realistically wish list to aspire to over the next year, especially since we both really want to tick of a few new countries to our list which currently stands at 26 countries.

1. Scandinavia Inspiration - We really want to take our first steps (as we are sure we will visit more than once) to exploring those beautiful countries further north - possible a trip to see the Norwegian Fjords or the stylish Stockholm or possibly a having a danish in Copenhagen, either way there are chic cites and stunning outdoor landscapes to inspire the soul and we really want to explore this part of the world.

2. A Chic City Break - we plan to visit Paris which I have been to many times but can you believe it John has never been (coming from the man who has been to New York 3 times) as well as combining the trip with a pop over to Luxembourg as it's a new country for us to visit and it's not too far from the capital of chic.

3. Winter Sun - it's been way to long since I have seen beautiful Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. In fact I have not even taken the little man to my place of birth and country I had the luxury to grow up in. It's mainly been due to the cost - flights are expensive and we would want to go for a few weeks but this year we are really saving up to make it happen. It's a great place to visit in December as it's summer in South Africa, meaning we would come back with tans and have a well deserved break in the sun.

4. Exploring our backyard - Wales - every year we try and explore more of the country we live in and there are such amazing and breathtaking landscapes to be found in Mid-Wales and of course the magical Italianesque village of Portmeirion are set firmly on our radar this year for some backyard exploring.

Camping Island style - this year we would like to take our camping skills further afield and enjoy one of the islands surrounding the UK such as the Isles of Scily or the Channel islands. It's something different, fun, family friendly and fairy economical.

Of course on our longterm wish list there are far more far flung places such as the Galapagos Islands, Japan, Russia, India, Cuba and all such places but with each year we try and be realistic to what we can achieve as a family, one thing is for sure we intend to tick off at least two new countries this year taking our totally to 28 countries. What adventures are you planning to take this year?
