A gentle start

Is there really anything more beautiful and perfect than soft newborn skin? As with the first time around we are very aware of what we put on Baby G's skin to help keep it supple without overloading it with unnecessary chemicals which is surprisingly easy to do. We try and use mainly organic and natural based products and when it comes to bath time all we use is a simple baby soap and water. Our nappy routine usually involves  a combination of either our totsbots cloth nappies or Nature Babycare eco disposable nappies which are chlorine and fragrance free and also help to alleviate nappy rash as do the water wipes we have been using lately and I can honestly say it's been weeks since we have had to use any kind of nappy rash barrier cream as there has simply been no need.

Water wipes may be a little bit more expensive than the standard pack of wipes, retailing around £2.99 although they really are a high quality product and are ticker and more dense and moist than the normal wipe meaning you use less and best of all is they only contain two ingredients and completely chemical free! There is something really reassuring knowing that there are no irritants and the wipes are 99.9% water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract and they are the only baby wipes to be endorsed by Allergy UK.

I am also using 100% organic and nature based soothing baby oil from Organic Babies for some dry skin that flares up on Baby G's tummy every now and then as well as for Cradle cap when needed and like I said pairing it up with Water wipes it's been at least 6 weeks without needing to apply anything for nappy rash so personally I can see the benefits of these wipes on sensitive skin. The only down side is that I live 20mins from the city centre and my local store does not stock these but John works in the centre and you can buy value packs of 4 or 9.

  3. Have you ever used reusable wipes? We found that when using cloth nappies, cloth wipes were a natural accompaniment.
