5 months & thinking of weaning

happy baby

Wow time is really flying by and I can't believe Baby G is going to be 5 months this week! He has grown so much and is much bigger than what Mr A was at this age. It's strange having a baby who is flying through his clothes - he has been in 6-9 month clothing for more than 4 weeks now and is really solid. He really wants to get moving and has started doing a sort of backwards caterpillar crawl  and is rolling all over the place. With not only his mobility improving but we are also gearing up towards the big W that is weaning, which we are aiming to start around 6 months.

He sleeps very well in the night but often goes a whole day without a nap no matter how hard we try to get him to settle, although the past two weeks he has started to wake more in the night again as I think he is having a bit of a growth spirt,  which has been a bit demanding on my slightly sleep deprived body. He has up until this point been exclusively breastfed, although he doesn't like expressed milk in a bottle unlike Mr A so we have spent very little time apart in the past 5 months. It will be interesting to see what he thinks of food and he has started to show an interest in it around our meal times, in fact he reached out for some the other day to my surprise. We will probably do a mix of baby led weaning with a little bit of spoon-fed and see how it goes but in the meantime we need to get a highchair and have put a few of my favourites from Online4Baby which have a huge selection. I really love classic designed ones such as the wooden Danbaby highchair but I equally love the bright patterns and quirky style of the Cosatto highchairs

1. BabyDan Danchair £67.95
2. Cosatto Noddle Chair £98.95
3. Icckle bubba Orb £99.95
4. Red Kite Feed Me Deli Chair £42.95

This past week has also seen Baby G being moved from his Moses basket into a full size travel cot, which we have opted for instead of the wooden crib we used for Mr A as we are hoping to start having viewings on the house in the next two months and thought it would be easier to pack a travel cot away when people come to look as he is still currently in our room. It's also given us more time to look around for a better cot than our last one, which was great up until around 1 year for Mr A but it would be nice to have one that converts nicely into a small bed like this 3 in 1 Sleigh cot bed

I honestly don't know what I would do without being able to shop online, it can be so hard to get to actual stores with a young child and baby in tow but of course it's also great to actually see things in person before you buy them such as the new Online 4 Baby showroom in Oldham.

The newborn stage has truly gone now, he is so active and is possibly one of the happiest babies I have seen, always smiling and jolly, but as it is with life it all seems to move to fast and trying to soak up every milestone and enjoy each and every stage along the way.

  6. He's such a cutie! I can't imagine just how quickly these new stages come along...I'm already looking at baby's small cot thinking crikey we'll be upgrading that before we know it! Love the Sleigh bed- I really wanted one of those but we've inherited a Stokke cot so I can't complain! x
