The Art of Effortless Travel Style: Dressing Well When You're Constantly On The Move

Travel style has changed quite a bit over the past few years. We've moved away from heavily curated holiday wardrobes, a different outfit for every scenario, towards something far more relaxed and practical. These days, most of us think about versatility and comfort rather than planning for every eventuality. It's part of a wider shift towards simplicity, where less genuinely becomes more. And it fits neatly with the rhythm of cruise travel, where you move between places without ever repacking or checking in and out of different hotels. If you prefer a shorter, more flexible getaway, it's often simpler to build a wardrobe around something like mini cruise deals , which tend to nudge you towards lighter, more practical packing while still leaving room for plenty of variety along the way. None of this is about looking underdressed or losing your personal style. It's about building a wardrobe that does more with less, pieces that can be worn several ways, that move easily ......

Why The Right Wardrobe Makes All The Difference To Your Fitness Journey

Embarking on a new fitness journey is a brilliant commitment to your health, but many women fall into the trap of thinking any old T-shirt and joggers will do. While enthusiasm is the most important thing you can bring to the gym, what you wear on your back (and your feet) plays a pivotal role in whether you stick with your new routine or pack it in after a fortnight. The right wardrobe is key to comfort and the psychological boost of feeling prepared. Choosing Fabrics That Support Movement and Comfort When you're working up a sweat, the fabric of your clothes is your first line of defence. While a 100% cotton tee might feel soft on the sofa, it's a poor choice for high-intensity training. Cotton absorbs moisture and stays heavy and damp, which can lead to chilling or painful skin chafing. Instead, look for moisture-wicking synthetic blends or treated natural fibres like bamboo. These technical fabrics draw sweat away from the skin to the garment's surface, where it can eva......

Simple ways to update your bedroom that gives the wow factor

I am currently in the throes of a much-needed mini upgrade of my bedroom. I'm pulling off the outdated wallpaper, the old carpet is being pulled up (I hate carpet), and hopefully I can repair the floorboards so they are usable as well as repainting the walls and redesigning the space in the hopes of creating a calming and welcoming space.  A lot of the process I am planning to do myself to help keep the budget down and only bringing in tradesmen when needed and I think it's also important to know when to do that as there are somethings that are beyond my skill level and at those times I don't have an issue paying for the skills of a builder or capenter and getting the finish I really want.  However, there are plenty of simple and easy ways to update your bedroom space  1. Make a statement with paint and artwork A fresh coat of paint can do wonders to any space but when adding a bold colour or accent wall, it can really add something special. It's also a room to have a b......

3 Tips for Sharing Wardrobe Space with Family or Significant Other

As a child, you were taught to share with others, a good life skill that is needed into adulthood. As an adult, there should be nobody easier to share with than our significant other, child or family member. Yet when it comes to something like wardrobe space, which for most of our lives has been ours and ours alone, suddenly having to share it can come as a shock. I live in a very small home, space is limited, so at the moment I'm sharing my larger wardrobe with one of my children and yes we make it work but it did take time to adjust, in the same way it would if your sharing yours with a partner for the first time.  It also brings challenges with it. It is almost certain that one of you will have more things than the other. Then, there will likely be disagreements over how things should be stored. You might also have different needs, for example, if one of you just wants to find what you need quickly, sling it on and get out the door, while the other likes to take time getting dre......

Now there is a huge misconception that when it comes to a home, whether that be a house or flat, that it's going to cost a lot of money to make any improvements, well that simply isn't the case. You don't need any major upgrades to make it feel refreshed so I thought I would share a few simple ways to make changes in your home that will with no doubt be positive ones. 1. I'm going to a Black Tie Event! Tips on dressing right

So later this month I will be attending the Princes Trust Awards in Cardiff which I am really excited about because it's such a positive and fantastic charity and does so much for the youth of this country who have god ideas but need mentors to help make it happen. The awards is black tie event so certainly not your standard evening out so of course I am already planning what I should be wearing, I've been to a few of these type of things before and it's a great opportunity to dress up a little bit different to what you normally do. If you have never attended a black tie event it can be little nerve-wracking especially if you are worried about looking a little silly or out of place. If you have been invited to your first black tie event, most likely you will have already asked Google what is and is not acceptable . Many of us look forward to such occasions when we get to dress up and show off our sense of style, although, for some, there is no more daunting prosp......

Change Your Wardrobe Change Your Life? Clothes Can Make A Difference

Can dressing better improve your life? Personally when I feel good in the clothes I am wearing whether it's just casual attire or a little bit more dressed up for an evening out I do feel better. The way you dress influences perceptions, and in certain situations that count, like work, it may create a more positive impression. Often, dressing well also changes how you feel about yourself and make you feel empowered, for example if you go to work  dressed in a sharp and stylish way it can make you feel more confident, which can translate into more productivity, especially when it comes to speaking up at a meeting, or negotiating a contract. The same can be said during the school run or in social circumstances. Of course this isn't always possible if your a busy parent, things do slip, I know they do for me anyway so decluttering your wardrobe and developing a capsule wardrobe is key for being able to put outfits together quickly and on the go that you know are goi......

Feel cool in Cashmere

Cashmere is one of the most recognisably classic material the fashion world has to offer. It’s never  really goes out of fashion: velvet comes and goes, lamé has made a recent and surprising comeback, but at any period and during in any trend, cashmere is a reliable hallmark of quality and comfort used by the best designers to create luxurious and aspirational clothing and accessories, whether that’s soft, warm scarves or hardwearing but still luxuriously comfortable pullovers. Finding a good piece of cashmere can be challenge though. The fact it is a classic fabric and an indicator of quality when it comes to clothes means that some labels use it badly in order to grant their designs cache. I know we are currently in summer but that also means is a good time to get in there early with warmer jumpers and scarfs for the winter.  Here are some tips to help identify a good piece of cashmere, that could make the difference between snapping up a unique piece ......

Capsule Wardrobe - Breton Stripes

I've been slowly trying to build a capsule wardrobe, as some of you may know I am on a mission to minimise my life, I still have a long way to go but at least I'm going in the right direction. It's made me think a lot about my personal style, what works and doesn't work for me and how I can still have fun with fashion. My wardrobe is in somewhat of need of an update but I am taking my time, trying to apply less is more and therefore really questioning my purchases. A personal favourite though has to be a Breton tee, paired up with jeans and it's always a win.  So I thought today I would go with this classic style and put together one of my favourite combinations of my Nine West Blue Breton with my Karen Millen skinny black jeans, anchor & crew necklace and Dr Martens shoes. It's simple, chic and perfect for a lunch out in the city. There are a few other pieces I have in mind to add to my wardrobe this summer and that is a playsuit of ......

Winter Style - Tips for Wardrobe longevity

Even though it's been fairly mild this season, winter is still well and truly here. The other day when we had a bit of a cold snap, while I was out, I realised my nose was cold, which is a sure sign that it is time to have those much needed warming accessories such as gloves and scarfs on hand. As with all the seasons I try and make my clothes last as long as possible and that Slow Fashion is the way forward with sustainability but that doesn't mean you have to be out of trend but instead opting for classic styles with a few on trend pieces to update ones wardrobe, as well as caring for the clothes you already own and opting for quality over quantity. What I love about winter is layering and being able to indulge in all that is simple and cosy and of course being able to justify the need for some new items of knitwear  which will keep you nice and warm under a jacket and is also perfect for relaxing at the end of the day with a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate. Kni......

Making the most of your bedroom space

When it comes to bedrooms making the most of your space is key, especially as this is the one room you will be spending a fair amount of time in as well as where most of your personal belongs will be. Bedrooms can very easily become cluttered if you don't have enough storage space and clutter is really not conducive for a restful nights sleep. In our currently home our bedrooms are pretty small compared to our larger living spaces which has meant we have needed to be more creative with our bedrooms in terms of design to maximise the space we do have. We opted for a king sized bed in bedroom once the baby arrived as we co-sleep but of course we had to find ways to compensate the lost of square footage by using under bed storage for our linen and books. We also have an alcove that was not be used when we moved in and luckily one of our chest of draws fits perfectly into it, freeing up some much needed space. With all the bedrooms we have sat down and planned how to get as mu......

Boys Club and Barbour Jackets

John in his Patagonia Jacket So a Boys Club post has been long overdue especially since Johns wardrobe has grown again but this time with winter staples including warm winter socks from Japan as well as a few bigger purchases such as this Patagonia jacket which he has had his eye on for a few months and thought he would treat himself to an early Christmas present. I have to say having picked it up and tried it on myself (drowns me) its so light, warm and breathable I really want one too. While I tend to mainly wear monochrome John brings in quite a lot of colour and is good with mixing and matching his clothes and even though this is very much a practical jacket and perfect for our outdoor adventures it's also fun and on-trend. When we shop we try to keep things as local as possible and love to support independent stores and one of the best places in Cardiff to find high quality and harder to find labels such as Red Wings and YMC is the small and unassuming Pav......
