How to Plan an Autumn Wedding
As a child, you were taught to share with others, a good life skill that is needed into adulthood. As an adult, there should be nobody easier to share with than our significant other, child or family member. Yet when it comes to something like wardrobe space, which for most of our lives has been ours and ours alone, suddenly having to share it can come as a shock. I live in a very small home, space is limited, so at the moment I'm sharing my larger wardrobe with one of my children and yes we make it work but it did take time to adjust, in the same way it would if your sharing yours with a partner for the first time. It also brings challenges with it. It is almost certain that one of you will have more things than the other. Then, there will likely be disagreements over how things should be stored. You might also have different needs, for example, if one of you just wants to find what you need quickly, sling it on and get out the door, while the other likes to take time getting dre......
T he world is changing and the reality is that our actions can and do have an impact. We all know we need to do our bit and thankfully there are more eco-friendly choices when it comes to retail and fashion than before, including outdoor and activewear. We all know that fast fashion has contributed towards some of the pollution we are seeing but the thing is fast fashion is often cheaper and with so many feeling the pinch in the cost of living, it can often be the only choice for many families, but luckily that is changing. It is really good to see that not only are many fashion brands are focusing on being more sustainable in regards to things like the packaging they use and the materials and manufacturing processes they use but consumers are also changing the way they shop, including buying a lot more second hand than before. Things like organic white tees have been on the market for years but now you can get pretty much anything with lower carbon footprint, from winter jackets made ......

*This post contains affiliate links When we feel good about the clothes are wearing it can in turn have a positive effect on how we feel about ourselves and can be a real boost to our self esteem . What people don’t realise, however, is that they might be spending too much time and resources on our personal style. Of course, you could just put on whatever’s available in your closet (I do this often) but sometimes we want to put together a specific look or if you are attending an event, going to work, meeting up with friends etc or maybe you just want to wear something a little extra special, colourful or fun that also makes you feel good. Dressing up, whether for work or leisure, requires at least a little planning and effort especially as it's often not just the clothes, but you’re also thinking about shoes and accessories that go into the overall look. All of this decision-making takes time that may be better spent doing other things. As a result, you may find yourself skipping ......

I love getting outdoors, having always been active and one for an adventure I also know how important it is to make sure you have the right clothes for the occasion. Making sure your dress appropriately will mean enjoying what your doing that much more, no one likes being cold and wet on a hike or too hot for that matter so when it comes to outdoor pursuits investing in some decent clothing is key, also they tend to last much longer making it a much more economical choice long-term. The people over at Simply Hike have asked me to put together an outdoor wish list of what looks great but will keep you outdoor ready this winter season so if you have some adventures planned to take a look. One of the most important things if your planning on heading outdoors for a few hours during the colder months is a good jacket and fleece and opting for a dec......
Over the past few years we have had the odd occasion where the opportunity to go away at the last mintue has popped up, in fact that happened this month. We have now learnt how to pack very quickly for a family of four and getting this skill down to a tee means you can take advantage of those last minute travel deals in which time is the essence. Of course it is easier if you are traveling solo or as a couple but even as a family if you adhere to some basic rules and hacks than a quick break away at the last minute shouldn't cause to much stress. Firstly the most important thing to do is travel light! We very rarely every check any luggage in, instead we always have carry-on luggage. I actually managed to get my clothes and both of my boys into one small carry-on for a weekend, then usually John will take a small bag for him and between us we have our Kanken (small day pack) for small things like food, water and nappies on the go. Essentials for last minute tra......

A Guide to buying kids beachwear
Everyone needs a vacation, even if it's just a night away and a seaside getaway can be really good for the soul as it's known that the ocean has a real calming effect on people. If you are planning to escape to the beach sometime soon with your little ones for complete unwinding and relaxation, you have reasons to choose proper kids' beachwear. The beachwear will not only make your child stylish but also it will make him/her comfortable and with most offering UV protection it's also saving your kid's skin from sun damage. What is beachwear for kids ? Children and baby swimwear is actually the mini version of an adult’s swimwear. There is no difference besides the print and slight change in the design. But this doesn't make it an easy decision, choosing beachwear for a child is much more difficult and challenging than choosing for an adult, due to the wide range of prints available. So when deciding on the swimwear for your kids, make sure you have the......

High Street Fashion Today
Nearly everyone has some kind of interest in fashion or clothes as from a pretty young age we decided how we want to present ourselves to the world and this is often expressed through what clothes we wear. I always find it interesting to hear other peoples thoughts on this topic so when a fellow writer, Robert asked if he could share his views on the current state of our High Street fashion in the UK I was happy to accommodate. What about the high street fashion? It is easy to guess that the high street fashion is the clothes that can be bought in the mass-retail chain stores, like H&M, Topshop and others. These stores sell casual clothes for the consumers of all age groups. You will find clothes for children, teenagers, young, mature and elderly people. The high street fashion is characterized with the clothes that are appropriate for different situations. One can find a good suit for business, conferences and other special occasions such as weddings and anniversaries. If......

Sunday Style - Tootsa Macginty
I was always a tomboy even from a very early age I didn't like wearing dresses or anything frilly or bright barbie pink was never going to happen and that was fine, in fact I wore a lot of my older brothers hand-downs in the early years because from the moment I could run I was off adventuring, climbing trees and such and my parents always embraced my personal taste (even if that meant some very interesting family photos with outfits I had put together). Things have changed of course but one thing I learnt is that children how their own sense of being from very young and they are happiest when they are comfortable in what they are wearing which is why I love Tootsa Macginty , a completely unisex clothing company for children with the most beautiful and colourful clothing (wish they made adult sizes). When it comes to my eldest we allow him to make choices for example his hair, he doesn't want to cut it at the moment and thats fine, equally when he does we will sort tha......

All weathers with Muddy Puddles
If you are a regularly reader of our little blog you will probably already know we love the outdoors and aim to spend some time outside each and every day no matter what the weather. Living in a wet (and often cold) country means you do need to be prepared and as long as you have the right equipment even rainy days can be a lot of fun. Since we are finally emerging from the wintery cold into the refreshingly warmer springtime the wonderful people at Muddle Puddles asked if Mr A would like to put their Spring/Summer lined Muddy Mac to the test. First of all we both love the bright yellow fisher mans colour with the striped lining. It's made out of ultra waterproof soft and flexible fabric and has fully tapered seams which basically make this mac storm proof. We paired his Mac up with a pair of splash proof over trousers and Puddlestomp wellies which meant he could has as much puddle jumping fun in the rain as he wanted. Mr A can be quite fussy when it comes t......

Top tips for dressing your baby happy
In recent years kids clothing has really boomed, with so many amazing companies popping up as well as established brands redesigning larger collections plus a huge influence from the Scandinavian market has seen more prints, patterns and colours come into our children's lives. There really is no longer an excuse not to have fun with fashion no matter what your age although as you may find dressing a baby can come with some difficulties, for one they don't sit still, in fact my 8month old is the king of the wrigglers at the moment it such a battle just to get a vest on him and the eldest one is adamant of what he wants wear so enjoy the period when they are happy for you to dress them in your choices because it ends all to soon. Baby G in a vintage style Powell Craft sleepsuit The main thing when it comes to dressing a baby though is practicality and comfortability and good brands often manage to combined this with fun and flare. I found the newborn stage and fi......
