Flowers in Bloom at the RHS Cardiff Flower Show

I love this time of the year, when the earth appears to wake up again after the long winter sleep to a colourful and beautiful world as flowers start to blooms. Last year was the first time I attended the RHS Flower show and loved it so I was equally excited to go again this year with my friend and local blogger Laura from Cardboard Cities . For the second year in a row the sun shone for the whole weekend meaning making it the perfect day out for all ages and this year seemed to have even more features for children than the last with a hungry caterpillar to climb and lots of wicker sculptures to spot as well as the very popular floral wheel (Ferris wheel). As you enter through the gates you are immediately faced with a giant willow bee sculpture towering over everyone at 16ft high. Also one of my favourite displays is the creative wheelbarrow gardens designed  and planted by different local schools, each one different and unique. We then made our way through ......

Street Style Sunday - New Shoes

So I recently treated myself to this colourful floral printed trainers from Boden, they are just a bit of fun and add a pop of colour to my wardrobe. They are actually from the teenage section of Boden but  I thought why not, if you can't have fun with fashion then what can you have fun with, especially coming into the colder months it's nice to still keep a touch of summer in my outfits. I also managed to pick these up for a steal but using a VouchaCodes  which meant I got money off and free delivery, serious win if you ask me. I have paired them up with my Fred Perry Pinafore and a tee from Next for a simply and practical look as this past week has been a really busy one. So far this Autumn has been mild so I have been making the most of still being able to wear dungarees and dresses on a daily basis before it simply becomes too cold and the tights have to come out. The one great thing about seasons changing is that it's the perfect time to re-evaluat......

Monday Interiors - Wallpaper love

So as some of you may already know we are working on the house to get it ready to put on the market and we have been slowly sprucing up each room. After being so delighted with the Laura Ashely wallpaper we used in the nursery we decided that maybe our bedroom could do with a change up. I have to be honest I have never been a massive fan of wall paper simply because how often people use it in the wrong ways but if done right it can really create a chic and inspiring space. We wanted something subtle with a nature inspired print that has a hint of Orla Kiely to it which is why we went with this Ashcroft Sable  and I cannot wait until the bedroom is finished and share the end product with you.  We also really love all these Laura Ashley vintage and heritage prints at the moment which draw on nature, floral and botanical inspirations. Perhaps more suited for the older style property such as a bay fronted Victorian but would also work we'll in any kind of bedroo......

Simple Sunday interiors

Oh how I dream of lie-ins in such a comfy looking bed ( image ) I have to say we love Sundays in our household, it usually starts out pretty lazy, well as lazy as one can be with a 4yr old who is ready for action from the get go. We usually start the day with some homemade pancakes, some fresh coffee and hopefully lots of laughing, although with our new arrival, Baby G, this Sunday was anything but relaxing, in fact we were totally sleep deprived. The little guy had been up pretty much all night and we both looked a little bit worst for wear but our heart filled with love. Sundays are still our best day of the week, when family time really comes together, even though it won't be so lazy as before I am loving these interiors and they capture my idea of a Sunday morning perfectly Nothing beats a lazy breakfast in bed ( image ) Simple Sundays with flowers in the home is what I dream of ( image ) Love this simple Scandi kitchen table ( image ) ...

Interiors and flowers: tips on how to do it well

I love this vase and simple floral arrangement ( image ) Gone are the days where floral prints feature only in your granny’s home, nowadays floral patterns are bang on trend. Vogue headed to the Chelsea Flower Show earlier this year to check out the best floral interiors along with what flowers are taking centre stage on the catwalk this season.  Flowers, fashion and interiors have begun to go hand in hand – here is how to get it right: Don’t go overboard Flowers may be fashionable but this doesn’t mean you should overdo it. If you add a floral pattern to every piece of furniture and have every type of flower out on display, your home will look ancient, out of date and like a florist. Rather than smother a room in floral - inject floral.  It's important to keep a balance and not go overboard, this room is floral perfection ( image ) Use real flowers It sounds obvious but many floral print lovers don’t actually bother putting flowers around th......

Parisian interiors and our little adventure

I love the large windows and all the natural light (i mage ) I have to say I have always been attracted to city living, especially on old apartments that have been styled in a chic and creative way. I have been lucky enough to live in the centre of Cape Town, Edinburgh and Amsterdam, all in traditional flats and there is something comforting about not having a lot of space but using it to the full making the most of it and I think the french have it down to a tee. High ceilings, large windows, lots of light and beautiful furniture - I always feel inspired. When we recently stayed in the city of lights we opted for an Airbnb apartment - the one we initial picked was very stylish and beautifully designed but unfortunately it was not available - our second choice was more practical but perfectly located and was very clean and had everything we needed including a great host who showed us around the flat, gave us the keys and said if we needed anything to give him a call, coul......

Colourful Monday

Feeling the positive vibes ( image ) So it's Monday and for most people that's not the best day of the week for others it's the start of a week that could be full of opportunities - I try to view it with the second option insight. Today however I am struggling with a cold, wrapped up on the sofa looking outside at the blue sky and trying to zen myself into a happy healthy place. I refuse to let this get my down and I am looking forward to an action filled week (from tomorrow). I have been thinking a lot about how I really want to bring more colour into our home and life and thought I would share a little bit of positive colour inspiration with you..... How beautiful are these stairs? ( image ) The power of block colours and an awesome rug ( image ) So I hope everyone has a wonderful and colourful monday and remember stay positive as you simply don't know what the week holds ...

Tips for creating a floral themed room

Nothing beats fresh flowers in the home ( image ) One of the most popular themes for rooms in a lot of people’s houses is that of flowers. A floral theme can really brighten a place up, and those who really love flowers will really enjoy being able to match different styles and colours around the room. Here are some tips for creating a room with an effective floral theme… Don’t overdo it The first thing to mention is to not overdo it too much. Of course you want your theme to be noticeable (otherwise what’s the point?) but if you slap flowers on absolutely everything then it’s going to be somewhat overbearing and even garish. Don’t put flowers on everything in the room; instead pick a few key areas and focus on those. I love this bright floral wallpaper ( image ) Wallpaper Having floral wallpaper is a good way of injecting some interesting patterns into your décor. Again, however, you don’t want to overdo it. Try choosing wallpaper with a few flow......

The Camouflage Company and Giveaway

I think now more than ever I appreciate well designed storage ideas, especially after amounting so many children's toys and bits and bobs so finding something that are practical but also chic and stylish is quite a hard combination to come across so when I was asked to do a review for The Camouflage Company I was really intrigued by their unique storage  bags, boxes, totes and everything in-between to help keep your house clean, tidy and looking good. I was sent the Zipped Carry all with a floral print on it. It's large enough to store all of Mr A's toys and is very strong and durable but other key points are that it's totally wipeable for those accidental spills, squeezes into tight corners and folds down when your not using it. It has a large mess window  on one side so you can see whats inside, which is good because I often forget what I put inside boxes. I have had a few people complement me on it recently which is fantastic as it really means its fitting......
