Celebrating Love For all Mums this Mother’s Day

*AD  This a paid partnerhsip with Boots #LoveforAllMums  Families come in all shapes and sizes, all wonderful, all valid and this Mother's day is about celebrating ALL MUMS and those mothering figures in your life. The idea of the cereal packet nuclear family is thankfully changing and whether you are a single parent, biological parent, adoptive parent, foster parent, same-sex parent, a non-binary parent who sees themselves as a mothering role, or an older sibling taking on the role of parent, everyone deserves to be celebrated, because family life is diverse and unique and individually beautiful. I'm so proud of my little family unit, the adventures my boys and I embark on, the things we learn along the way and that I get to see them grow into themselves, while I myself continue to grow as an individual. I am continuously grateful on a daily basis that I still have my own mum in my life, especially after losing my Dad in my late teens. She recently turned 75 and is still pain......

What I really want for Mothers Day

*AD This is a Paid collaboration with Boots.com  All parents are different, our needs and circumstances vary massively and while chocolates and flowers are always a welcomed gift they are not always what we want or need. In fact according to a survey done last year by Parents.com, the overwhelming response was either a good night's sleep or a day off/time alone and I am not surprised one bit. Being a parent is the most fulfilling but equally exhausting role you can ever have and women especially often put everyone else first, to their own detriment and wellbeing and that needs to change.  For myself personally, there are three things (seems like a lot right but really it's not)  I'd appreciate this year is to make as many memories as possible, as my children are getting older I am fully aware that with each year they are going to need me less and less and while at times that feels like a positive it's also an unsettling prospect. I also want to take time to focus on my ......

Style - Putting Your Best Foot Forward

When you're attending a special event or social gathering most of us want to look and feel good in what we are wearing no matter what our personal style is. Putting together an outfit together that makes you feel comfortable and positive about yourself whether for a night on the town, a get-together with friends or even a nice couple's dinner date often helps to improve the whole experience. While like most people wearing sweats and trainers at home is great it's possibly not the way we want to present ourselves when we are out and about at a social gathering or even networking event. One of my favourite accessories when it comes to putting an outfit together is a good pair of shoes as they often set the tone for what you are trying to accomplish with your personal style choices. Whether you are going for fun and playful, classic and elegant, or even making the best choices for work, shoes make the ensemble. In this post, I will discuss the importance of shoes in co......

Winter Style - Tips for Wardrobe longevity

Even though it's been fairly mild this season, winter is still well and truly here. The other day when we had a bit of a cold snap, while I was out, I realised my nose was cold, which is a sure sign that it is time to have those much needed warming accessories such as gloves and scarfs on hand. As with all the seasons I try and make my clothes last as long as possible and that Slow Fashion is the way forward with sustainability but that doesn't mean you have to be out of trend but instead opting for classic styles with a few on trend pieces to update ones wardrobe, as well as caring for the clothes you already own and opting for quality over quantity. What I love about winter is layering and being able to indulge in all that is simple and cosy and of course being able to justify the need for some new items of knitwear  which will keep you nice and warm under a jacket and is also perfect for relaxing at the end of the day with a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate. Kni......

Cool kids on the block

Wow is it's just me or have the summer holidays just flown by! I cannot believe we are officially into September and soon instead of jumpsuits and dresses we are going to be going for our scarves and gloves and picking up Pumpkin Lattes to warm ourselves up. Another big milestone for most is the start of a new school year and that means picking up all those Back to School essentials. Even if your little ones are not school ready perhaps they attend nursery, play groups or even home school sessions, either way now is the time to get rid of the old and bring in the new when it comes to stationary, creative craft supplies and of course clothes and shoes that are going to stand the up to active kids no matter what stage of learning they are in. If you read my blog regularly you will know we love style and fashion, especially heritage brands so when Dr Martens got in touch to as if we would head to their Cardiff store to check out their back to school range for kids I may have do......

Like father like son

When we found out we were expecting our son many moons ago now John was so excited to be having a boy to pass down his passion for films, books, music and clothes. He wanted to instil that less is more, that a good quality suit will serve you for years to come and plans to pass down his Red Wing boots which are already more than 10yrs old yet the soles are going as strong as the day he bought them. Mr A is now coming into his own in terms of what he likes and what is comfortable for him to wear. He loves outdoor clothing, hard wearing boots as well as warm winter jumpers. John thought he would share a little wisdom when it comes to essential mens wear tips and must haves. Every stylish father and son's closet should include a list of wardrobe essentials that range from casual Friday staples to special occasion basics. The list isn’t very long, but the pieces are definite must-haves. Here’s a breakdown of those quintessential items that every dude needs to have i......

Style Me Sunday - Babysitters club

So this week has seen more changes for our little family, especially my eldest as we welcomed a brand new cousin/nephew into the world, making me an Aunt for the first time as well as Mr A a potential babysitter in years to come. Mr A has also been heavily into "workmen" style play this week, helping out at my mothers house hammering nails and filling up gaps in floorboards and he favourite item of clothing is week has got to be his Dungarees which were actually handed down from a friend who picked them up from Next, we have paired them up with this new Clarks boots and T-shirt from Esprit. The nice people over at Promofix Gifts sent us some very cute badges and mugs which would make a perfect gift for anyone who is currently expecting either their own child or in our case a little nephew or cousin and Mr A was very proud to wear his Babysitter to Bee pin badge. Their Mummy to bee mugs are super cute and if your looking for something heart warming and uniq......

Street Style Sunday - Stripes and Jacket

Laura wears - MS jacket, Uniqlo tee, HM leggings, Morlands boots, Topshop hat, Vintage bag First of all I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Years and so happy to be starting of the year with another Street Style Sunday with the lovely Natalie from Style Me Sunday . I am sure a lot of you have a few new pieces to share and I was over the moon when I was given this lovely Jacket and wolly hat from the other half for Christmas and couldn't wait to share it. I also treated myself to this striped Paris print tee from Uniqlo and have been keeping my feet warm with these beautiful lines Morlands boots. I love nothing more than indulging in some wooly hats and jumpers at this time of the year. It's been a little bit harder than usual being pregnant in winter as last time I was coming to the end of my pregnancy during summer and would simply buy t-shirts and shirts one size larger but I am still on the lookout for a stylish maternity jacket to see me through t......

Simple Wedding Makeup with No7

So as you know I recently attended a wedding and with it being such a smart affair I think you really need to be careful about what makeup you do use and don't go too over the top. Quality is very important as you want something that is going to stay put all day. I have had some wonderful No7 products waiting to be used and thought this was the perfect time to create something simple but chic and create a little TaDah moment. I love their Stay Perfect super light foundation which went on really smooth and is something I am now using daily. It's perfect for all skin types and is a light to medium coverage. I also used the concealer stick in the same shade to cover the dark circles under my eyes and is an essential in any mamas handbag. I was immediately taken by the sparkly Lash Impact mascara which really did make an impact on my lashes and was very easy to apply and control. I paired this up with the gold shimmery eye shadow stick to add some subtle sparkle to my......
