Slowing down the Swedish Way with Moccis

I was recently asked by Moccis to bring a little bit of Scandinavian lifestyle into my own home and routine and couldn't wait dive straight in and embrace slowing down and getting cosy this winter season. Like most people I love Christmas especially since becoming a mum as it's just so exciting and magical but can also be overwhelming, trying and stressful although it really doesn't have to be and the Scandinavians seem to have the key when it comes to balance and staying mindful not matter what time of the year it is. Most have heard of the Danish Hygge but the Swedes have their own version - Lagom, the art of being contented and thats something I really want to learn more about. So what is this Lagom that everyone is talking about? Well it's basically creating a happier and balanced life all year round and being more sustainable, making less waste and living more consciously without depriving yourself of the things you love. Well I have talked many times a......

Summer, Cider and the Swedish Way

Summer to me is all about enjoying the best of life, long days, good conversations, warm evenings, coastal walks, picnics, eating al fresco, festivals and finding lots of down time to spend in the garden with the boys, taking it slow and savouring a summery afternoon drink. Growing up in South Africa meant very long hazey summers, people seemed more laid back there, life in the UK certainly feels very fast paced and hectic in comparison which is probably why I feel drawn to the Swedish concept of Lagom and for those who don't know what that is it's all about the concept of "not too much, not too little just finding the balance" and creating a happy life. As you may know I am only a minimalist challenge and attempting to declutter my life and lagom fits into that perfectly with the theory that just enough is perfect with lack of fussiness being key. So I'm excited to pair up with  Rekorderlig Cider which I love (cider is my go-to summery drink......

Boys Club - Fjallraven Jacket

John has been eyeing up a jacket to carry him through from winter to spring since before Christmas although decided to wait and see if any popped up in the sales, luckily one of his favourites did - this Fjallraven Greenland jacket from OiPolloi . For those who don't know who Fjallraven are they are an stylish but durable outdoor Swedish brand, you have probably see their famous Kanken bags which have been incredibly popular for both men and women. They make their clothes to last and going by how long I've had my Kanken this is certainly the case. John has paired up his new jacket with a Ebbets Field flannels hat, Folk shirt, Edwin jeans, Converse and Chups socks. The great thing about a simple, waterproof jacket like this is you can layer a lot underneath making it perfect for the transitional time between winter and spring and hopefully it will come on use during some of our adventures we have planned for this year. ...

Cos clothing for kids on the move

Mr A rocking a Cos t-shirt When it comes to boys clothing it can be quite hard to find something fun, well made and practical but as always if there was anyone to get this combination right it would be the Swedish who have produce some great products for the whole family in the form of Cos Clothing and I have to say I am a real fan. I love the simplicity with interesting touches, it's modern, clean and great for easy carefree style, so I was over the moon when they sent a few bits and bobs for Mr A to try out. Of course he was up to his old sneaky tricks and not staying still for a moment, which to be honest is what a 3yr old should be doing. He really put the clothes to the test and I have to say it's thumbs up all round. I really love this Cos knitted hoodie Stripes never go out of fashion  I love these swimming shorts We are a huge fan of stripes in this household - it's a bit like denim, I don't think it will ever go out of fashi......

Street Style Sunday - Family Style

John rocking a pair of Archibald optics frames John has also been on the hunt for some new frames for his glasses and his usual go-to frames are Ray bans but this time he wanted to support something a little bit more unique and hopefully homegrown and in his search came across Archibald Optics who are based in London and allow you to do a "try at home" box of your three favourite frames - I think this is a great idea as it's really hard to tell what they are really going to look like from a picture online. The "try on at home" pack He is leaning towards a more rounded frame and these ones in particular are his favourite - what do you think? Mr A has also been looking stylish this week in his new COS striped swim shorts, I have only recently found out about this timeless and effortlessly chic Swedish company which makes Mens, Womens and Kids clothes and will be going into further depth about them in a post later this week, but ......

Acne clothing love

I love Swedish style, everything is so simplistic, effortless and chic and perhaps that is why both John and I love the swedish label Acne . Acne was founded in 2006 by four creatives with the desire to create something new. They started out with designing 100 unisex pairs of denim jeans and the brand has been built up from there. What is great is they have both a mens and women's line that is equal in individuality and style. It's the sort of brand you don't mind saving up for as the garments are made so well and timeless and I have had my Acne jeans for at least 6 years now and they have not lost there shape at all. Johns Acne shirts don't look a day old and once again are a few years old, I think this is a testament to a great forward thinking brand. Here are a few pieces on my wish list of Acne clothing at Morgan Clare , the high end retailer- for now it still is very much a wish list, especially with having to recently fork out nearly £400 for my screen and hard-dr......

Happy Socks

Ahh how my feet long to be free, in the warm summer sun with the grass underneath them. When I came across these Flossy espadrilles it made me long for summer and all the fun that comes with my favourite season of the year. It reminded me of my student days in Falmouth, Cornwall, which seemed like a world away from the rest of the UK, as if it turn on it's own time. I pretty frugal with my money and only buy something when I need it but Box clothing currently have these on Sale for 50% so I think I'm going to get a pair now because I will want them when summer comes and I know I will probably moan about the price, so some forward thinking is needed here. Until then though I like to keep my feet nice and cosy and John is a huge sock fan and has been wearing Happy Socks for a while and I am equally a fan, I think it pretty much got me with the name and the cute and quirky designs make my feet dance. It's no surprise these sweet little feet warmers are designed in Sw......

That Christmas feeling

So a big happy Christmas to everyone and one and all. Hope you have all had an amazing past few days with lots of laughs. I have been so busy with my home photography studio - last minute christmas portrait shoots and running around trying to get them printed for clients right. But I always try and make some things as there is nothing like abit of a homemade feel to christmas, another rule that I have is the Tree and the wreath have to be real - no fakes here! I love the smell of a real tree, to me that is the smell of Christmas. One of the other things that is great about this time of the year is you can get up and have a champagne breakfast and no one looks twice mmmm I love champagne in the morning. Here are a few snaps from the past few days - including a sneak peek at Johns new Ralph Lauren jacket which will be in an outfit post soon. mmmmm orange juice and South African sparkling wine at 8am is the best Homemade Gift tags....they are so quick and easy to make and ......
