Bosinver Farm Cottages, Cornwall Part 1

Earlier this month we were invited to a short stay at the beautiful Bosinver Farm cottages near St Austell in Cornwall and from what I had heard about this place through other reviews I had read it was going to be a great little getaway. I actually studied half of my degree in Falmouth and have a real soft spot for the South of England and couldn't wait to head back down with the kids. Bosinver is made up of 20 luxurious self catering cottages, spread across beautiful and peaceful Cornish farm ready for big and little ones to explore. With so much on offer at Bosinver there was no way I could fit it all into one post so in this post I am going to focus on the accommodation and outdoor activities. Relaxing and recallibrating 1/52

This week we have been taking things slow by heading off to Bluestone National Park Resort in Wales to indulge in some fresh air and to relax and recalibrate ourselves after Christmas and New years which seems to get more and more manic year on year. So far it's been a lovely short break and even we have had some rain it's also given us a chance to reconnect with nature, stomp around in Wellies, jump in puddles and wade through rivers. I's been the perfect break away before heading back to reality and the start of a new year. I have also been very excited about being asked to be involved with The Mumdrum 52 weeks campaign which encourages parents to document one memory a week throughout the year, which can be used to make an online memory book, which personally I think is a great idea as there is nothing better than looking back over all the memories you have created throughout the year and best of all it's super easy to be involved and you can also share......

Carreg Cennen

  On the last day of our recent short break to West Wales we decided to head out to one of the most beautiful and dramatic Castle Ruins in Wales - Castle Cennen, perched on a hill and you literally have to scramble up to get to it as there is no real path. The views from the top are stunning and well worth the walk up, which was accompanied by many mountain sheep and goats, much to Mr A's delight. Once at the top you have free range to explore the ruins and there is also a natural cave running underneath the castle for which you require a torch and we hope to do this on a dryer day as the very steep stairs down into the cave were very slippery and with a toddler it just didn't seem wise. Other than that we were really lucky with the weather as we just missed the rain as it came down just after we had scrambled back down the hill and sat in the beautiful Cafe at the foot of the castle. ...

A West Wales Adventure

 Two weeks ago, after an impromptu talk with mother about how we needed a low stress mini break, she was off finding a last minute deal and came across this beautiful detached Croft Thatched cottage in West Wales and we jumped at the chance. My mother booked it through Under The Thatch who have a small but beautiful collection of unique and character filled properties and they had two nights available for a late booking at a really great price (wish it could have been longer though) so with only a day or two to prepare we headed off. I always feel really lucky that we don't live to far from truly inspirational places such as West Wales and I often think that we overlook what is basically on our doorstep. It was so peaceful and the cottage had a lovely large garden with an apple tree and luckily enough for us the weather was dry which meant two nights spent eating outside, overlooking beautiful views across a valley and countryside. A Welsh Getaway - a sneak peak

So late week my mother surprised me to a little 2 day getaway in rural West Wales which was really what we needed. Unfortunately John could not come with due to work but it was great to have some quality time with my mother and the little man. It's been a rather up and down couple of months after surgery and generally having some negative people around me has not helped, so our cottage break was welcomed with open arms and oh how I long to live in the countryside. We stayed in a traditional  Croft Loft Cottage with a very large garden which had a wonderful apple tree to sit under and overlooked a field with horses and ponies. A beautiful Bath City break

John outside the Francis Hotel Earlier this month we managed to have a night away in one of our favourite cities - Bath for a little us time - a rarity when you have a child but I feel very important as after a while as we all crave an uninterrupted meal, a little drink, a lie in and a relaxing sunday spent without any tantrums and what better place to do it in than the wonderful and majestic City of Bath. We stayed in the Francis Hotel , this beautiful Georgian townhouse is located right in the centre and from the moment we arrive all our stresses fell away. We love anything that is a bit different and quirky but also stylish and the hotel was all of those things wrapped in one.
