How to add Pops of Colour to any Room

*This post contains affiliate links  Sometimes you’ll have a room at home that doesn’t do anything for you. It could be that your living room feels a little bland, your bedroom looks a little dull, or your study is lacking inspiration. When you have a room that does nothing for you, it’s usually because there’s no imagination or colour in there. If you read the recent post about home and interior goals for the summer , you’ll know that a bit of paint can go a long way to refreshing any space at home. In this post, I’m going to be talking you through some unique walls to add a pop of colour to any room and give it some personality. Maybe some of the tips will help you find the inspiration to refresh a room or get the paintbrushes out of the garage. And to start, we’re going to the bathroom. Consider Wallpaper or Patterned Tiles for the bathroom! How does having dozens of flamingos in your bathroom sound? A bit silly, right? Well you do have the opportunity to update your bathr......

Dressing your family home to sell

As we are actually planning to put our house on the market soon - yes I know I have been saying that for a while but really we are gearing up for it now, I thought I'd share a little interior inspiration with you. When it comes to making your house look more expensive there are a few tips and tricks that will help you get there. Increasing the value of your home is a lot down to its appearance, so attention to interior design is crucial. Today, we are going to talk about a specific home furnishing that will help you in making your house more luxurious - rugs. This post brings you the styles, sizes and even layouts that are best when choosing rugs for design purposes. Patterned Designs Patterns are hugely trendy right now, and living room rugs with patterns are a great way to give dimension to the room and make it look bigger. Even if bold and bright patterns aren’t for you, there are plenty of patterned rugs that focus instead on softer colours and subtle designs. If c......

The Gratitude List

Oh life can be complicated and manic at times, it can throw you curve balls that knock you off the path you are walking but these curve balls can also offer great perspective amongst the chaos of running after two children, working and keeping a house in fairly decent shape. Over the weekend I lost someone very important to me and instantly the small things that were bothering you fall away and you question why you were even stressing over them in the first place. It's also made me feel incredibly grateful for the full life I have, the children who certainly keep me on my toes but give me a real sense of purpose and how despite the daily grind have it far better than so many and I reminded myself of this often. So I wanted to share the small things I have been grateful for this month as gratitude is something that constantly has to be renewed. 1. An early morning coffee to myself - I woke up early one day last week and manage a couple of hours child free. At the moment it......

Flowers in Bloom at the RHS Cardiff Flower Show

I love this time of the year, when the earth appears to wake up again after the long winter sleep to a colourful and beautiful world as flowers start to blooms. Last year was the first time I attended the RHS Flower show and loved it so I was equally excited to go again this year with my friend and local blogger Laura from Cardboard Cities . For the second year in a row the sun shone for the whole weekend meaning making it the perfect day out for all ages and this year seemed to have even more features for children than the last with a hungry caterpillar to climb and lots of wicker sculptures to spot as well as the very popular floral wheel (Ferris wheel). As you enter through the gates you are immediately faced with a giant willow bee sculpture towering over everyone at 16ft high. Also one of my favourite displays is the creative wheelbarrow gardens designed  and planted by different local schools, each one different and unique. We then made our way through ......

Wintery picks for a cosy home

It may have been a very mild start to winter but today sure did feel colder with that fresh snap in the air. It's such a special time of the year, almost Christmas, fireplaces dressed up, the throws out on the sofas and time to make the home nice and cosy. There is something so comforting about going for a wintery walk to come back home to warm house, a cup of hot chocolate and some relaxing time with the family so I thought I would put together a few little things I have my eye on to bring in the cosy feel from now throughout the New year 1. Haden orange throw - Habitat £12 2. Hearthwick Cedar 16oz Candle - Fishpools £22 3. Thermosoft Prisma Red Throw - Fishpools £29 4. Glencoe pillow - Made.com £25 5. Knot Natural knitted Pouf - Habitat £75 This time of the year is all about those simple pleasures, nature fibres, big knits and warming fabrics, with the main aim of being a sense of comfort to these long evenings. I love these two throws with autum......

Never regret your style choices again

Picking the right style for your home is a huge decision. Many of us will have felt this pressure as we flick through home magazines or scroll through Pinterest. There are just too many different styles and, if you’re like me, so many of them stand out. The fear is that you’ll choose one of these beautiful styles, create your room based on this idea, add all the finishing touches and then another, better style will catch your eye. You really don’t want to be redecorating every month, so it’s so important to pick a style that you’ll still love in a year or so. Not to mention picking products that will last as long as your love. So don’t stress, take a few moments to really think about your style and the look you want, using these tips to help you out. Start small Don’t back yourself into a corner with no way out. By this we mean, don’t go into overdrive and decorate the entire house without giving yourself time to reflect on your design choices. This could mean just d......

Autumn Inspirations

The only thing that makes the end of summer bearable is Autumn in all its cosy country fashion. It's such a visually inspiring month with the leaves changing to beautiful hues of red, brown and orange as well as the fact you can start layering your clothes and justifying 3 cups of hot chocolate in one day.  Just like with spring, I feel the need to clean, make a few changes to the home and get involved with more crafts. I have made a little list of things I want to do this month especially as it also feels like the calm before the storm that is Christmas, Autumn is truly a time to soak up the smaller quieter moments while still enjoying the last few days of fairly mild weather before plummeting into those ice winter temperatures and being a southern hemisphere ex-pat I will never get used to the biting festive season. So here are a few things we are planning to get up to this Autumn 1. Finish decorating all the bedrooms, making them a place you want to lay your head a......
