Building a Blog that Lasts

My blog has been going for over 15 years now, so I must be doing something right. I thought I'd share a few things about blogging that I have learnt over the years. Ever poured your heart into a blog post, only to watch it disappear into the digital ether a week later? In a world overflowing with content, that's a common frustration. The trick to breaking this cycle isn't just churning out more, but creating content that truly connects with people emotionally and sticks with them long after they've closed the tab. This guide will show you practical steps to build a blog with lasting emotional impact, turning fleeting clicks into a loyal readership. Why Some Content Fades So much of the content we see online is made for instant consumption. It's like the digital version of fast food: quick, convenient, but ultimately forgettable. This kind of content often chases passing trends, focuses only on SEO keywords without a human story, or just gives out transactional infor......

How Creators can Boost Content with Unique Skill Development

Feeling like you're in a creative rut is something every content creator understands. One week you're overflowing with ideas, the next you're staring at a blank page, convinced you've said everything there is to say. When your usual sources of inspiration run dry, the answer isn't always to dig deeper into your niche, but to look outside it. Learning a completely new skill can be the most powerful way to refresh your perspective and generate authentic, engaging content that truly connects with your audience. Finding Fresh Angles for Your Blog Learning a new skill can refresh your perspective and bring unexpected ideas to your main topic. Being a beginner encourages you to notice things differently. For example, a food blogger learning watercolour might apply colour theory to food styling, while a tech reviewer learning sourdough could find new ways to explain complex processes. Embracing the unfamiliar can reveal fresh and engaging angles for your content. How New ......

What makes your take unique? Maybe you're a renter who's a pro at decorating without leaving a trace. That's a fantastic niche! Bringing the Coffee Home

I was recently invited to amazing little coffee workshop event at one of my favourite places to grab a cuppa - Wyndham Tea (part of the home-grown Waterloo Tea houses) in the Arcades in Cardiff. The event was being put on my Currys and I really didn't know what to expect but there was a fantastic turnout and it's always really exciting to see something like this come to Cardiff with a few bloggers travelling from Bristol and further afield. It started at midday and as soon as I arrived I was greeted with a delicious de-caff iced coffee which I really need to learn how to recreate at home. The room was setup into Stations and we were all split into smaller groups to allow us to get as much out of the day as possible, First up was Latte Art and I have to say even though my attempts were unsuccessful I had a lot of fun in the process as well as learning more about how important a good Coffee grinder is, the process of making coffee decaffeinated and how temperamental soy......

Cardiff Bloggers - Tea at Pettigrew

This enhanced cream tea was amazing At the end of October myself and two lovely local bloggers - Gemma from Fat Frocks and Chantelle from Two Hearts One Roof decided to organise a pre-christmas tea for Cardiff bloggers and it really was a wonderful day. The venue - Pettigrew Tea Rooms in Bute Park is a simply stunning location and provided us with the most amazing enhanced cream tea which consisted of the most exquisite handmade delicacies, I particularly enjoyed the fresh scones and mini eclairs. What was the main highlight though was meeting up with friends and new faces and basically having a chat over some loose leaf tea. The group was really diverse and it was wonderful sharing stories and  putting faces to blogs. The lovely people at Argos also collaborated with the event and together we brought in toys to donate to Banardos which was wonderful as it's always great to get involved with a charity. After the cream tea some of us headed off ......

So let's start with: ‘ New Adventure ’ journal I love that this can be used as a note book for your travels or just as a chapter of a new stage of your life! Weekender bag  I love anything with a vintage floral print and this is just perfect! Swatch Watch Love

I think there must be very few people who don't know about Swatch Watches (if you don't seriously where have you been for the past 40 years?), with their creative and colourful designs and great prices they are the perfect fun accessory. Luckily there is an amazing store in Cardiff and I was kind enough to be invited to a little blogger shindig the other day to see a few of their new pieces and basically have a proper look around the store. Johns first watch was actually a swatch and I have owned a few in my lifetime as well. Two of the things I was really impressed and surprised with was the lovely jewellery they also do - the beaded bracelet and necklace really reminded me of similar pieces I used to pick up in markets in South Africa when I was younger - something to do with the bead designs I think, they also had a stunning ring. Another thing was there slightly more grown up and classical style watches most of which were unisex and oozed quality ......

Off to Blogstock

So I am off on a mini road trip today with the lovely Fritha from Tigerlilly Quinn . We are making our way to Elstree to the first blogging festival BlogStock . It's a blog conference with a difference and I can't wait to see what it's going to be like, with sessions happening in a Tipi's and tents as well as live music in the evening, sunrise yoga in the morning and lots of yummy food options. We are only spending one night under canvas but that doesn't mean I won't be packing a few essentials as I totally believe in being as comfortable as possible when camping. First of all I love to enjoy festival food but  I don't want to be relying on that solely so I always pack snacks to much on in-between meals. So in my snack pack this time I have some homemade healthy Courgette muffins, nuts, yo-bears, fresh fruit and a trek bar. Plus I always pack a few bottles of water and some sandwiches for the first day. Argos my lovely sponsor for Britmums ear......

Interior inspiration Day with HomeSense

Me enjoying a picnic at HomeSense Last week was very exciting indeed as I was invited to take part in an Inspiration day at the Cardiff HomeSense . A lovely table with all sorts of yummy goodies including cupcakes and bubbly was set up and I was ready to help any readers and shoppers with any interior challenges they had. Before I settled down to have a chat with shoppers I spent the first hour walking around the store and picking out 10 must have items for the next season and with so many wonderful products I was really spoilt for choice. Here are my 10 blogger picks 1. I came across these beautiful ceramic bowls with a retro design and they would bring a lovely fresh look to any kitchen cupboard. 2. Rules are meant to be broken and you really don't need to have “sets” of things, so why not go for an eclectic mix of coffee mugs for a little quirky style 3. Following on from the retro look is this wonderful vintage inspired childs ride on sc......
