Perfect night away in Cardiff with Aaron Wise Apartments

After two and half years John and I packed our over night bags and headed into the city without the kids, yes our first child-free night away and a much needed one at that. Some of you may know we have had issues with our youngest sleep, to him apparently sleep is optional and this has made it hard to leave him with anyone else so of course evenings out together have up to this point been few and far between as usually one of us has needed to be at home, but then again that is part of the package that comes along with parenthood. Luckily on this occasion we found someone willing to watch our youngest (apparently he was up until 2am! Thats later that us)

Even though we were not going far it's been a while since I have been right in the heart of Cardiff later than 9pm and the Welsh Capital is such a fantastic place for a date night. I was really excited to not only to enjoy some good food but also stay at the luxury Aaron Wise Apartments which look out across the river Taff and only a stones through from St Mary's street and an abundance of eateries and bars.

The apartment was really easy to find and you are sent a secure pin to access the building, there are a few different one and two bedroom luxury apartments to choose from, we stayed in a one bedroom and it consisted of a spacious lounge and kitchen area, separate double bedroom with luxurious linen, large flatscreen tv, plenty of storage and space to set up your laptop, en-suit to this is a very stylish bathroom. Personally I love serviced apartments as you get the best of both worlds in terms of the comfort of a hotel but amenities of self catering and spacious living areas as well as the option to stay in or go out to eat. There was also a fantastic communal outdoor area perfect for eating al fresco and socialising.

When it comes to a night away whether with the kids or as a couple the little touches always make a difference so it was really nice to see some Prosecco waiting for us as well as a well stocked coffee machine and Elemis toiletries and soft bath robes. The apartment was so comfortable we were tempted to order a Deliveroo and stay in but I'm glad we decided to head out and enjoy a few cocktails.

John works in the city centre so when he finished we headed to Bar 44 for some Tapas and cocktails and even though it was a weekday it was buzzing with a great atmosphere and fantastic food as always. We shared a variety of plates and there was plenty of veggie options for me as well as meat ones for John. We were planning on going to a few places such as Small Bar or 10 feet tall but we were having such a good time at Bar 44 catching up and being able to eat and chat in peace that we ended up spending a few hours there before heading back to the apartment.

We had a bit of a lazy morning, relaxing in bed watching some breakfast TV and savouring the calm which we so rarely have these days. We then decided to take advantage of being in the centre of town and headed over to one of our favourite coffee shops 200 Degrees for a morning Cortado and a cheeky pastry before returning to normality and my two boisterous boys.

These apartments are great for those looking for a little break away, they literally have everything you need with a fantastic location to explore the Welsh Capital.
