A Comprehensive Guide to Where Kids Eat Free This Half Term

With more and more people staycationing than ever, coupled with the cost of living crisis, I thought it may be useful to provide the most up-to-date guide on where kids eat free this half term.  Now the half term isn't the same everywhere in the UK, I know for example many schools are off now but in South Wales, schools only break up next week, so the majority of restaurants and cafes mentioned, they are offering deals from the 13th-26th, although do make sure to read the T&C's of a place before heading there as there can be time restrictions, age restrictions and some don't offer their deal over the weekend.  Restaurants Bills - Valid from Mon 13th - 17th and 20th- 24th Feb Up to two children eat free, all day Monday-Friday if one adult orders any main dish. A Day in London with Nickelodeon and Ninja Turtles

Over the weekend we were invited to the Rise of the Ninja Mutant Turtles Nickelodeon event in London at Bay Sixty Six skatepark, a skatepark I used to visit when I was much younger and was really looking forward to taking the boys along for an action packed day of skateboarding, pizza and checking out the new TV series, we even watched one of the Ninja Turtles films the night before to get into the mood.   As usual the kids were fantastic on the train journey from Cardiff to London, it's become somewhat of a regular journey for us and as we pack tablets away during term time we do allow them to play some apps when we are travelling so it's something they look forward too. Food and so much more at The Big Welsh Bite

  Earlier this month was the The Big Welsh Bite, an annual Welsh Food festival held in Pontypridd Park each year and while we of course expected loads of great food there was also a whole lot more on offer. So my eldest and I set off with our bikes on the Taff Trail to Ynysangharad Park to find out more and of course tastes a few local delights. The last time we went to the Big Welsh Bite was when my eldest was a toddler and the new lido had yet to be built so I didn't really know what to expect this time around. Despite the on and off heavy showers in between moments of warm sunshine, it was wonderful to see such a good turn out for an event that helps showcase local and independent food and homemade goods. Summer in Cardiff City

So the summer holidays are officially over and even though the weather was a little hit and miss we still managed to do loads of fun things in the Welsh capital. I was lucky enough to attend a few events, try out some new places to eat, spend time with friends and local bloggers, so I thought I would share a few of the happy moments captured over the summer holidays. Like many cities around the UK there has been a real food revolution, especially with the more unusual, interesting and quirky, seeing a rise in food trucks and street food which accumulated in the Street Food Circus serving up some delicious bites on the weekends in Sophia Gardens. So of course we made sure to stop by after a wonderful walk in Bute Park and while the boys enjoyed the Brûlée Bar we enjoyed some  halloumi  bites and local craft ciders. A weekend in Cardiff, Good Food & Castle fun

Having been away so much lately I thought it was time to do a post closer to home, highlighting a simple weekend in the Welsh capital of Cardiff. I have mentioned it a few times before on the blog but there is a real food revolution happening in the city and so many new places popping up one is really spoilt for choice. Our weekends are of course set aside for quality family time and we often find ourselves in the city, usually running around Bute Park or talking a stroll down the bay and then on the hunt for a bite to eat. I was invited to the opening of The Stable a while back but unfortunately couldn't make on the night but had heard great things about their Pizza's so we thought as a treat we would check it out. Cold won't keep us in

Mr A hard at work raking the leaves So since wednesday the little man has come down with a horrible head cold, which having recently started kindergarten and the change in weather is was almost to be expected, so we have all been eating lots of healthy vegetable soups of late. Even so, if we didn't spend a little bit of time outdoors, even just 10 min we would have some serious cabin fever going on. I devised a few short and simple things for us to still to enjoy the fresh air, one was sweeping up all the leaves outside our current house, something the little man loves to do and really lifted his spirits.
