So for those who read the blog often will know that we are in between houses and actively on the lookout for our new home. We have seen a few, some have been great, others not so much, so are where falling down around us or just over our budget, others our heart have fallen for and then just missed out at the last minute. If anyone has gone through the buying and selling process you will know it's a very stressful one, but also a positive experience, as you cannot help but indulge in some interior design. I start dressing houses up in my mind, what would the perfect kitchen look like, how would my (in my dreams) Smeg fridge go or how would I make my bedroom unique. I believe in less is more and quality over quantity and would love a mix of homemade, locally made, fair-trade and designer pieces to full my space. Interesting and eye catching whilst also remaining practical, I like nothing more than products that are well designed and fulfil their purpose whilst also being......

Waldorf Inspired Crafts
Mr A with our Waldorf star hanging over our nature table I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client. I have been meaning to set more time aside for crafts, but as is life I always seem to run out of time. This week however I was determined to indulge in some simple and family-friendly paper crafts and with the little man starting Steiner Kindergarten soon it seemed only fitting to make a Waldorf/Steiner star above our nature table in our house. It's brings so much lovely colour into the kitchen and really brightens up the room. I thought some paper garlands would go well with the star and was inspired by two pins on my pinterest boards. The great thing is for both of these crafts you don't need anything special, we simply popped down to our local supermarket and picked up some tissue paper, natural jute string, cardboard, PVA craft gl......

Pin it forward
Ahh Pinterest you are the source of so much inspiration, such a wonderful tool to visually bookmark your loves, likes and Internet gems. I use it to share my love for travel, fashion, interiors, ethical products and chic baby stuff, it's also my place to dream of the perfect home, adventures and wonderful road trips and my favourite board, that I am going to be sharing with you today is Inspired Living . This board is important to me as I have always been a free spirit, I lived in a campervan for a whole summer in Cornwall and travel across Europe and the UK over the span of nearly two years mainly on my own and growing up outdoors in South Africa has lead me to love the simple quirky things in life, it's a bit hard to do those things now with a family and a little one but this board allows me to dream and full my heart with the things that make it happy, here are my favourite pins.... If you have not heard of Pinterest before you should really......

Let in the light and Pin to win
As you may know we are in the middle of houses at the moment, having sold our old house just before Christmas and we are now renting a little cottage just outside of Cardiff, and are currently on the lookout for our next "home". I am dreamer when it comes to these things, I mean why not aspire to live somewhere inspiring! Perhaps this is because the flat I lived in with a friend in Cape Town had the most amazing view of the mountain and city with a large balcony and windows that would let in the light, and it rarely failed to take my breath away every morning. I am in love with floor to ceiling windows and would love to live in a Victorian bay fronted house or an old warehouse or parisian apartment. I like rooms to have little nooks and crannies but also to be bright and airy and I love the idea of the outside coming in and the warmth of natural light. However I am not a huge fan or early morning sun every morning (anything before 7am is a bit of a no no) so I would hang......

Dreamy Bedroom
So we are hoping to move in a couple of months, once we have found the right place to move to that is, but my mind is already very much in dream mode, colour schemes and what our new home may look like. One thing for sure is that we are going to get a new bed - the time has come, for a bigger, family sized bed, as our little man loves to lie between us in the morning or when he has had a bad dream during the night. I love so many different looks from Boho chic, French inspired interiors, natural and nomadic to New York loft and city chic. When it comes to the perfect bedroom the bed is my number one priority. It's needs to be big and soft, with a comfortable but firm mattress adorned with lovely throws, blankets and pillows. The headboard is also important as it frames the bed, creates the style and a lot of thought needs to go into choosing which one you want, I love vintage metals ones, as well as the more natural wooden frames, but I think once we know what our new house looks......

My wonderful SITS day
I cannot believe my SITS day has finally arrived. For those who don't know SITS - The secret to success is support - is a support system for women bloggers and every day a different blogger is featured and today is my day :) I always thought I would have something big planned for the day - a really funny or interesting post - but often life can get in the way and for the past few days my 18month old sun has been under the weather with a virus and high fever and anyone who has a toddler knows when they are ill life stops. So here is a short introduction to Side-street Style. It's a blog run by Me (Laura) and my partner John and also features Arthur our son. John is a traditional cut throat barber and I recently graduated from my photography degree. We both love life, fashion, travel, art and being creative and bringing up our son in a green and frugal way. We involve our son in every aspect of our life and believe you don't have change everything about yoursel......
