Autumn Style and October Beauty Essentials

I have been giving my wardrobe a little overhaul lately and rediscovered these Autumn brown chinos I picked up from the Oxfam Boutique store in Cardiff city centre about two years ago and totally forgot about them, perhaps because not long after getting them I feel pregnant and let's just say they have no give in them so quickly were made redundant but I'm really enjoying wearing them now and thats the fantastic thing about putting clothes away during the summer to be welcomes again at the change of the season. I also find Autumn not only the time for jumpers but also long sleeved shirts and this Vero Moda one has always been a bit of a favourite as I am huge fan of monochrome and love the white with the black edges. I've paired it up with my Ralph Lauren bag and Bronx Brogues for a simple and causal look perfect for a spot of lunch in the city. I don't know about you but I certainly find this time of the year really starts to take a toll on my ski......

Boys Club - What they wore

So the two boys are officially back with their Boys Club posts and earlier this week they were off to visit the grandparents and decided to wear white shoes (may have not been such a great idea as Mr A loves mud but oh well). During the week it's all about running around outdoors, baking, crafts, getting messy and what not but when it come to seeing the in-laws John always take the opportunity to dress Mr A in a sort of mini-me kind of fashion and it's very sweet. John wears - Uniglo Shirt, Ralph Lauren Chinos & Socks, Superga shoes John is a shirt man, especially in the colder months and with the sun being out and it finally feeling like spring he woke up and said he just felt like wearing white as if to announce the coming of the lighter months, especially after what has seemed like the longest bout of rain we have ever seen. Mr A wears - Fred Perry Harrington, RL rugby shirt, Mini club jeans, converse shoes With Mr A being quite slight it has meant w......

Men - How to Dress casually without looking unkept

John in casual attire  Men's clothing can be a bit of a tricky business. It is an area of extremes. There are the smart tailored suits at one end of the scale, whilst on the other end you will find baggy t-shirts and hoodies paired with homogenous jeans. Many men complain that the casual look can be hard to get right. Most guys do not want to spend hours co-ordinating accessories and scouring the latest style guides to find a fashionable outfit. We want to keep it simple with a thrown-together look that still looks smart enough to take us anywhere. Simple style - shirt and jeans is always good. Image Pinteres t Fortunately, it is possible to find men’s clothing that falls into the ‘casual’ bracket, yet will help you to look the part when the situation needs you to. So swap your blue jeans for earthy cotton slacks, your t-shirts for a polo shirt and your hoody for a cotton sweater and see how much better you look and feel. There are a few wardrobe staples that......

The Boys and Girls Club

So this week both John and I are doing outfit posts together - we usually do a Boys Club post once a week with all of Johns inspirations from the week but we decide to switch things up a bit. I picked up this lovely printed top in the Boden sale recently and it's really light and loose and perfect for summer. I finally got some new skinny jeans and I am loving the fit from my new Diesel Skinzee. Also rocking my thrifted and girted jacket and recycled Juju shoes, plus a little bag I have had for years. Laura wears Boden top, Diesel skineez jeans, Gifted jacket, Juju Shoes, Collection at Debenhams bag John went for a causal look, as we spent the day running around with the little man so he wanted something with layers incase we got warm during the day and opted for a Universal Works Shirt over a Folk t-shirt and Dockers Chinos which are both stylish and very durable. For shoes he went for the classic Jack Purcell converse. John wears Universal Works Shirt, Folk t-shir......

Summer style and Park life

So we had lovely weather over the weekend and I finally got to wear shorts, comfortably for most of the day without freezing, such a nice change, now just need to work on a bit of a tan. I also got to wear my Boden breton tee I ordered a few weeks ago and I love, along with my new summer espadrilles and organic Nudie tote bag. Nudie - a Jeans and Denim company is becoming one of our favourite brands as it has such great ethics and all it's denim is organic, John has two pairs and they are great, check them out if you get the chance.  So here is a run down of what I wore T-Shirt - Boden Shorts - Next Cotton Crochet Espadrilles - Ebay Bag - Nudie Organic Cotton Watch - Guess The little man also had his summer style going along with John, who both had a lot of fun exploring Heath Park in Cardiff, which is a lovely large park with lots going on. We loved walking through the forest and woodland area which comes out onto a natural pond with ducks and other wi......

Lucky Boy in Ralph Lauren

We have been meaning to do a trip to London for a while, so when we had the chance to view the new Ralph Lauren children's wear SS13 collection at their kids store in London, we couldn't turn down the chance, especially since we all have been fans of the label for years and sums up our ethos of less is more, as well as making clothes for children with an active outdoor lifestyle. Ralph Lauren's children's wear is made to be treasured and from our experience they are also made to last, with beautiful tailoring and seasonal on trend but yet classic and timeless garments are a good investment for any little boy or girl. The store itself in Fulham road is amazing, it truly is a treasure trove of fun and fashion for children and I wish more shops where this truly child friendly as the children are encouraged to play, with friendly staff who love to entertain, a drawing table, fish tank, beautiful vintage rocking horse and 1950's red car for the boys its like a dre......

The Build-a-bear experience

The morning started with excitement in the air as we got ready to take little Mr A to Build-a-bear worhshop for the first time. I had walked past the shop in Cardiff's St Davids many times but never really ventured in to see what it was all about. We told Mr A that he was going to see lots of bears and he was very excited by this prospect even though I am not sure he fully understood what the day entailed. He ran all the way from the car, through the shopping centre to the shop and then stood still as if slightly overwhelmed. The staff were so friendly that very soon he felt at ease and comfortable and made his pick of a little dog to call his own. After he picked what he was kind of soft toy he was going to stuff we had to pick a noise to go inside the dog, so of course we went for the barking sound, then it was off to the stuffing part of the experience. Mr A was not fazed by the loud noise of the stuffing machine and watched with wide eyes as his dog started to come to......

That autumn feeling

When I think of fall I always think of oranges, deep reds and fading yellows. It's that time of the year where you are not too sure of what to do - wear a thick jumper and risk being too hot or clutch onto what is left of summer and dress a little thin and risk being cold. This is when layers come into play, as well as small injections of colours, such as John's Ralph Lauren Socks or the red of my earrings. I also realised that I have hardly done any outfit posts with my Chinos, also I have come to realise chinos are slightly harder to pair up with than jeans. The little story behind my heart necklace is that John's father is a metal detector and a human treasure trove of wonderful strange finds and picked this up on Porthcawl beach - I bought a new chain for it and wear it all the time, I like to think it's been passed from a few people before it met me and I wonder about the people who may have worn it. Ohh and don't forget to enter my Lingerie giveaway (found in......

Summer, too soon to end

Well, everything does take longer than you think, alas my laptop is still amiss but the computer tech guy assured me it would be fixed by this Friday. So the one thing that does not seem to take long enough is the summer in the UK. This summer hasn't been bad but it could have been filled with more long warm nights and clear blue skies and it seems to be nearly over all to quick. So here are some photos from last weekend, which was actually warm enough to wear shorts and a dress - one of too few days. It was one of those days in the city when you think "why don't I do this more often", a long stroll in Bute Park, coming across a little summer cafe with soft serve ice cream, then followed by a yummy bean burger in Milgi Art Bar with some iced Elderflower presse....perfect combination for the soul. Milgi Bar, Cardiff Ohh don't forget to enter the competition for the Bags of Change bag (just scroll down, about 3 posts away), the competition is running for a......
