My eldest can at times be a bit of an over thinker, he loves the outdoors but occasionally feels unsure and while of course we want to instil personal responsibility and love that he takes well calculated risks, equally we don't want him to miss out on amazing experiences because he doesn't have the confidence to take part. I think facing and conquering things that make us feel a little nervous or gets our adrenaline pumping is a good thing for building your self esteem. He has done a fair bit of low level bouldering at a local bouldering centre but has never gone very high so we were really happy to see he was so keen to take on the tree climb at Camp Smokey at Bluestone National Resort . We booked this activity early on during our midweek stay and he couldn't wait for the morning to come and was up and ready to go as soon as the sun came up. It was a very fresh morning with the winter sunshine flowing through the tall trees of Camp Smokey. Once ......

When life starts to feel really manic, which is pretty easy in these modern times as with thousands of people chattering across social media in your pocket it can sometimes feel hard to find the quiet, to reconnect with nature and as a family. If your a regular reader to my blog you will know we love spending time outdoors but even so it can be limited to weekends when it's all four of us and so breaks away that allow you to just stop for a moment and step away from the chaos are what we all need from time to time and Bluestone in West Wales allows for just that. We recently visited Bluestone for the second time, although the first as a family of four and we had four gloriously dry days to explore, discover and soak in all the fresh air. As soon as we arrived at our Skomer lodge which was perfectly located near the village and lake with forest walks running behind it, we spotted some rabbits happily enjoying the sunshine around the lodge and knew it was just the righ......

Gratitude and reflections
With such an action packed September following into October I thought I would share a few highlights from the past month and simple family moments, looking back through photos is something I always enjoy doing and I so grateful for all these happy memories. We had a double birthday celebration with my eldest turing 6 and myself turing one year older as well. We enjoyed walks in the forest, picking apples from an orchard, enjoying dusk in Bute park and enjoying a week away at Bluestone in West Wales. Although it's not been all daisies and roses with both boys coming down with a horrible cold virus and then my youngest being hit but another illness following on from that, I think it's something to be expected at this time of the year when the seasons change. 1. The boys enjoying a walk at dusk on a beautiful Autumn evening in Bute Park 2. Reflecting on our short stay at Godolphin Arms in Cornwall, I wrote about it Here 3. Looking for dragons on a scultpture trail in the f......

Bluestone Log cabin and Family travel
As some of you may already know we recently had a 4 night mid-week stay at the stunning Bluestone National Park Resort in West Wales - you can see what we go up to in my last post about this trip. This time however I am talking more about the accommodation side of things. We stayed in one of the Ramsey Lodges which sleeps up to 4 people in two bedrooms (one with a double, one twin). It's upside down living, which means the open plan living room is upstairs which gives you fantastic views across the resort. Upstairs was all open planned with a dinning table and chairs where we ate every evening, then a relaxing area with couches, coffee table and flat-screen TV and of course the kitchen space which was equipped with everything you needed. There stairs were fitted with child locks making it nice and safe for young children and the lodge was spotless when we arrived. The bedrooms, which are located downstairs each had their own en-suite, one ......

Free Range fun at Bluestones Resort
Earlier this month we were lucky enough to have a 4 night break at Bluestones National Park Resort in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, a welcomed relaxing trip after the mania that was Christmas. Unfortunately John had to work but my mother was more than happy to come along which was lovely as both Mr A and I got to spend some quality time with both her before the baby arrives next month. It took us just under two hours to reach Bluestone although we were in no rush and enjoyed driving along some pretty country lanes. Once we arrived and checked into our Ramsey Lodge it was already dark but that didn't stop us having a night time walk to explore our surroundings and get our bearings. The next morning we were up bright and early as it was going to be the driest day of our stay. We walked down to the village where we enjoyed some fresh pastries from the bakery before having some fun in the treetops treehouse which is a little wooden playpark that encourages natural p......

Relaxing and recallibrating 1/52
This week we have been taking things slow by heading off to Bluestone National Park Resort in Wales to indulge in some fresh air and to relax and recalibrate ourselves after Christmas and New years which seems to get more and more manic year on year. So far it's been a lovely short break and even we have had some rain it's also given us a chance to reconnect with nature, stomp around in Wellies, jump in puddles and wade through rivers. I's been the perfect break away before heading back to reality and the start of a new year. I have also been very excited about being asked to be involved with The Mumdrum 52 weeks campaign which encourages parents to document one memory a week throughout the year, which can be used to make an online memory book, which personally I think is a great idea as there is nothing better than looking back over all the memories you have created throughout the year and best of all it's super easy to be involved and you can also share......
