A rug revolution

We are hoping to purchase a period property when we move later this year, a place that has some original features and fingers crossed wood flooring we can bring back to life, but even with the most beautiful floors they can at times feel cold or lacking a little spark and thats when purchasing the right rug can make all the difference to a space and works just as well on tiled or carpeted floors. The main bonus about investing in a few well made rugs is that its still a lot cheaper than re-carpeting or replacing your current flooring yet can make a huge impact. Hendricks Afternoon Tea at Park Plaza, Cardiff

As a rule of thumb I tend to stick to a fairly healthy diet but I have to say I too am partial to a little afternoon indulgence every now and then so when Park Plaza asked me to come along and try out their Hendrick's Afternoon Tea with some other lovely local bloggers I was excited at the prospect of not only a little bit if baby free time (possibly the 3rd social activity minus kids in the last year) as well as cheeky cocktail and decadent treats.  John and I have actually had the Hendrik's afternoon tea before but it was slightly different as we tried out the Gluten-free option which is possible with this tea. The Park Plaza is situated right in the heart of Cardiff but as soon as you go through the doors you leave the stress and manic atmosphere of the city and step into a calm, stylish and peaceful environment. A little kitchen list

Loving this simple kitchen styling by H&M We are hoping to list our house on the market within the next month and I really want to bring a sense of simplicity to our kitchen and their are a few keys pieces I want to have to dress the space up as well as take with us to our next property. The one thing I learnt from my mother is to never leave things to chance - you need to show each space off to it's full potential and picking up a few key pieces can really do that. I have been eyeing up a classic flip clock for a while as well as this honeycomb style wine rack . I also plan to do a little bit of upcycling and these dipped painted stalls have given me some good ideas for our kitchen island seating area. Other small kitchen accessories I am loving at the moment and all cost under £10 is this simple ceramic mug , slate heart coasters and simple fabric storage box. This Homeschooling Life

So this is coming to you a few days later than usual as we are still having some interesting sleeping patterns with our 11month old but for one thing I cannot believe we are already into our second month of the year! I love to look back and reflect on what we have been doing together as a family, the adventures we have been on and what we have learnt. So what did January have in store for us? Well for one we decided to be a little bit more organised this year - we are neither structured or unschooled when it comes to the way we home educate - we simply do what feels right and allow Mr A some control over what he learns, of course with lots of encouragement. We picked up a few things for him over Christmas to help with reading and telling the time and have continued our outdoor adventures despite the constant rain we have had in Wales.
