The Benefits of Choosing an Active Holiday
Planning your next holiday? Whether you’re going solo or you’ve been saving up for a family retreat, an active holiday could be more rewarding than you’d expect. From cycling through peaceful vineyards, kayaking down rivers or getting fiercely competitive on the tennis courts, there are so many reasons to ditch the sun loungers. Personally, I really struggle to sit still, even on holiday, being active brings me a lot of joy and is has positive impacts physically and mentally as well as the social benefits of keeping active on holiday as it opens up opportunities to meet like-minded people. Physical health benefits When you’re taking a break, it’s important to spend time relaxing and stepping away from things that cause you stress in your daily life, however, this doesn’t have to mean lounging by the pool all day, as nice as that is the novelty can wear off and you can also strike a good balance by both chilling out and getting active. Swimming, hiking, and cycling are usually easy to ......

8 reasons to staycation in North Cornwall
North Cornwall is somewhere my kids and I keep going back to, it has everything you want when it comes to a British Staycation. Endless coastline, walks trails, country parks and quaint villages. While no one can guarantee the weather, Cornwall's climate is milder and offers more sunshine than the rest of Britain, making is a great spot for a holiday or even investing in a holiday home, something I hope to do one day as I actually went to University in Cornwall and have always longed to have a small base down that way. Here are 10 reasons why North Cornwall makes for the perfect staycation 1. Surfing Cornwall is known for it's beautiful beaches and with Fistral Beach in Newquay well known for being one of the best surfing spots in the UK, this is definitely the place to be whether a complete beginner or a seasoned surfer. There are of course many other spots in North Cornwall other than Fistral, such as Widemonth Bay, St Agnes and Perranporth. 2. The Camel ......

Moments of Joy from 2020
I know 2020 was one of the most difficult years globally we have had to face in a very long time. No one could foresee it and very few were fully prepared, especially in the UK. We have learnt how to adapt and change our lives to hopefully keep others safe until the pandemic is fully resolved and while there were plenty of lows in 2020 there were also some amazing highs as well as a new appreciation for what we have on our doorstep. While 2020 was also hard for many not only health-wise but also financially, mentally, socially and affecting everyone in some way I also don't want to forget the moments of joy we had despite all of this because there really were some great times and I think it's easy to overlook these when we think back to 2020. So here are a few of our personal moments of happiness within the chaos of what was 2020 and I hope you had similar moments too. Before Covid Hit There was a short period at the start of 2020 when we still (unknowingly) had it really good......

Surfing at The Wave, Bristol - Review
Who would have guessed that a swimming pool on the outskirts of Bristol could produce some of the best waves in England? Well, it can! In August I headed to The Wave as an early birthday present for myself for a whole day socially distanced session with Women and Waves , an all-girl collective inspiring women to get into surfing. Despite 2020 being very up and down, it's been a good summer, plenty of warm sunny days and luckily the coastline in Wales has plenty of quiet spots so I managed to get some good surfing, away from any crowds (lucky to have isolated spots) in before heading to the Waves for my intermediate session. Having grown up surfing in South Africa, it's something that I love and try to do as much as I can but being a busy mum of two means that my time on my board is often limited so places like this that guarantee perfect waves is very appealing to me and while it's not the same as being in the ocean, which has a certain magic about it, it's definitel......

Outdoor Apparel Guide for Women
This post contains affiliate links We all know that spending time outdoors is good for both our physical and mental wellbeing and the UK has amazing hikes and walks perfect for all levels as well as a variety of outdoor pursuits. Having the right clothing to do the job is important not only for practicality but to help keep you comfortable and safe. Finding the right gear and apparel can be a challenge and you're going to find a lot of brands make heavy assumptions about who is buying their products and why. The important thing is to do as much research as possible and don't be pressed to go for the most expensive option, while quality is really important you can often pick up excellent outdoor clothing one sale or at discount as a variety of outdoor shops or opt for second hand from places like ebay. I believe that getting outdoors is accessible for all and you shouldn't be put off through lack of budget and often we can make do with what we already have, so I thou......
