Choosing Goals over Resolutions this year

Like most people when it comes to the New Year its a chance to make a fresh start, to try new things and leave any negativity from the previous year behind and usually this is done with making new resolutions which I have done for the past few years. Something however changed in my outlook going into 2019 with my main priority to drop the guilt! I found last year I succumbed to stress for a variety of reasons and a lot of the time I would beat myself up about not doing a good enough job, being a present parent, eating healthy enough etc and I started to wonder why that was? Why was I always aiming for this weird idea of what perfection was and should look like than rather enjoying all that I had and giving myself a break when simply trying to do the best I can. Most mothers will be aware of "mum guilt" which is sort of thrust onto us whether we like it or not as the media simply backs up the perfection we are meant to achieve - this applies not only to mothers but al......

6 Meaningful Ways to Fit More Exercise Into Your Life

Sometimes it seems there isn't enough time in the day to do everything. Most of the time, people tend to prioritize other tasks and forget to take care of their health. However, there are many ways to fit small exercises into a busy schedule throughout the day. If you wake up slightly earlier, you can easily gain some precious minutes to work out or go jogging. But in case you need some extra motivation, finding a willing companion might be the best course of action. Another option would be to enjoy the outdoors and engage your kids in some outside games, in fact I've written a post before about some ideas on keeping fit with your kids . Exercise Early in the Morning The easiest way to find more time to exercise is to create it. By waking up 30 minutes earlier, you have now created enough time to go for a walk or jog around the block. Some people plan their workout in advance by setting out their workout clothes, running shoes, and water bottle the night before s......

5 Doable New Years Resolutions

Like most I had my fair amount of treats, chocolates and glasses of wine over the Christmas period and I think again like most I could do with a break from all of that but as I get older I realise that drastic changes to my lifestyle is simply not doable as it not only affects myself but my family so as a rule of thumb we keep to an active lifestyle all year round as well as aim for a well balanced diet as I cook all our meals everyday anyway. I do however feel there is always room for improvement in every home, always space to make positive changes, although smaller more doable changes that we can achieve as a family. Here are what I plan to work on this year 1. Get more sleep - this is a huge must for me especially as the baby wakes at least twice during the night and personally I find if I am tired that I don't always deal with difficult situations as well as I would normal or my stress levels are affected so my main goal this year is to go to bed atleast 30mins earlie......

New Years Resolutions for the Home

Well I cannot believe how quickly the past year has gone and how excited we are for the New Year, for many reasons but mainly because it's going to be bringing a lot of change as we expect our 2nd child and plan to put our house on the market as well as hopefully find a new project to take on. Of course this is if everything goes to plan and to be honest we are running a little behind on finishing the house and have decided that we need to put in place a few goals and resolutions when it comes to the home. I always think putting ideas to paper is a good thing and making realistic goals is important to keep on track...so here is a little bit of what we have planned for 2015 1. Get organised - I am not talking about having a super clean and efficiently run home but rather being organised for the week and day ahead, knowing what we have to do and attempting to do it, I think this is vital with the new arrival on it's way and homeschooling Mr A, I know applying basic plans ......

New Years Resolutions and Vegan Love

(image via Free People ) So it's that time of the year we reflect on the past and see how we can improve the future. I always think it's important to have realistic goals otherwise you can often set yourself up for failure so I have gone for simple steps to try and make 2014 a happy and stress-less year. 1. Go Vegan - I am a dairy free veggie and I have a passion for healthy vegan food so this seems kinda obvious. The goal is to go vegan for a year, but why not join in with Veganuary and do it for the month of Jan? 2. Go to bed one hour earlier each night - I know that having an extra hour in bed would do my emotional and physical well being wonders. 3. Get organised - moving house has thrown everything up in the air so getting back to being organised is one of my main priorities 4. Drink loads more water - water is the original super food, it does your body wonders and I never get enough. 5. Look on the Positive side - we had a lot of stress last year, o......

That New Year feeling...

Seeing the New Year in with some champers So I really cannot believe it's 2013 - where did 2012 go...it seemed to fly by faster than usual. Perhaps because we where so busy with bringing up a toddler, work and moving home and I feel that in a way we are over what was quite a stressful time and I have a really good feeling about the New Year. The New Year is always a time of reflection and I think this is true for most people. I like to focus on the positives and improve on the negetives. This year I am not making an huge drastic resolutions but rather aspiration that I strive to achieve as I do feel there are some improvement that I could make. Here are some of my 2013 goals. 1. Aim to be more organised - it saves time and your sanity. 2. See the positive side of things because positive people attract positivity to there lives. 3. Eat wholesome, nutritious and organic food 4. To really enjoy the indulgences I allow myself. 5. To always make time for the ones you love......
