*This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Tempur In my youth and before having kids I probably took sleep for granted but with two very active young boys running around all day I know just how important it is to get a good night's sleep, not just for my sanity but for a range of reasons although there are times as a parent when you, unfortunately, go without your 8hrs and have to find a way to function on far less. Luckily as my boys are getting a little older and have settled into a good routine I can now see just how exhausted I was some days and how I hope I never have to feel that way again as both my mental and physical wellbeing are benefitting from getting enough rest. Many of us know that sleep is very important but here are a few reasons as to why that is 1. Reduces stress levels Being a parent at times can be stressful, especially if you are also juggling work, family, social time and it can be easy to become overwhelmed, even more so when you are tired. When you ar......

Small Bedroom? You can still go big on style
Having a small bedroom, for some, is a deal-breaker when it comes to buying a house or looking for apartments for rent in Miami . There’s nothing easy about designing a bedroom smaller than the rest of the rooms in the house, particularly when the biggest focal point of a bedroom is, of course, the bed. The bed base, the mattress, the duvets and pillows – they all make a statement. Whenever you walk into your bedroom , you want to feel calm and at ease, not overwhelmed by the clutter and mess because the bedroom is smaller, and so doesn’t have a good solution for storage. It’s for this reason that you need to consider how to design your small bedroom so that it works well for you. In my house our living spaces are much larger than our bedroom which is one of the smaller rooms but we have made it work. Modern downsizing , new builds and apartment living have decreased bedroom size over the years, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a functional, comfortable and beautiful......
Our health is a fairly big deal. No one really wants to feel bad or have health problems. Unfortunately, plenty of us are running around after children or trying to get s good work life balance in a world that is increasingly becoming more hectic and stressful, all of which can take it's toll on our health. Many of us know we are not running at our best or most efficient but it can feel like we have to make huge changes to our lifestyle in order to be healthy which is simply not true. It's often actually the small changes that can have a big impact and help boost your health in big ways without you even noticing. Sleep is Extra Important This is something I really need to work on and can be harder said than done when you have a toddler who seems to think sleep is optional. Saying that it's very much a propriety for myself an should be for everyone as sleep has an incredible impact on our health and it is also one of those things we sacrifice easily. The avera......

Let's talk about sleep (or lack of)
Can we just be honest for a moment and talk about sleep and how much it changes when you become a parent. Before kids, you didn't even have a second thought about going out on a Saturday and coming home in the early hours because your bed was yours and you can stay as long as you like. That is certainly not the case now, in fact, each day I have a small sense of dread as we head into the evening because it often doesn't go how I planned with two young children one of which seems to avoid sleep like the plague. My youngest who is nearly 2.5yrs has never slept solidly through the night, meaning from 8pm-8am, on good nights we have 1-2 wake ups on bad nights we have multiple wake ups or waking and not settling, we had a faze where he would wake up from 3am-6am and lately with the lighter nights despite blackout curtains he is often up much later than his bedtime, not due to lack of trying on our part - its hard! When he was under 1 he was waking around 6 times a nigh......

Smart Sleep even when your kids don't
If you have read my blog before or follow me on my social channels you may already know that this little man above doesn't sleep fantastically well and is up every night at some point meaning I'm on tired mama. We have tried everything to get him to sleep through but nothing has worked as of yet which means the hours I do get need in between wakes need to be quality sleep so that I can be a functional member of society which is not always the easiest of tasks when sleep deprived. Of course the more tired you are throughout the day due to lack of sleep, the easier it will be for you to make mistakes, lack energy or feel overwhelmed. While it is true that getting the right amount of sleep is important in my case right now that is harder said than done but still there are things I can do to improve the sleep I do get and hopefully these tips can also be useful for you to achieve better sleep at home. Taking a look at a Brooklinen review will give you enough information to ......
Both John and I are on the go for most of the day, especially John whose work means he is standing for hours on end and has been suffering with a bad back for the past year, it's been so bad that at one point he was visiting a Chiropractor fortnightly and having to take anti-inflammatories daily. We knew something had to change, especially in the run up to Christmas which is somewhat of a stressful time for most and when your not getting a good nights sleep this is only personified. John felt that our current mattress was too soft and not offering him enough support where he needed it most. Luckily the amazing people at Bruno Sleep asked if we would like to put one of their 7-zone support ergonomic design mattress to the test which is meant to relieve pressure and promote a healthier spinal alignment which would hopefully mean a better night sleep and less aches and pains. The bedroom should provide a place of sanctuary where you can destress at the end of......

Sweet Dreams - Bed perfection
I think this is a good quote to live by ( image ) It's surprising how many of us sleep on uncomfortable, old and basically unsuitable beds, especially when you think how many hours we spend on this one piece of furniture. Surely it should be one of the most important purchases we make, yet we often overlook, even John and I can put our hands up and say that we have gone for way to long without replacing our bed and it's now being put to the top of the list of must have things for the house, especially since sleep and the quality of your sleep is so important to your physical and mental wellbeing. \ How beautiful and cosy does this bed look? ( image ) Personally I find lack of sleep really does affect my mood and makes me less attentive and when you have a toddler running around if your not on your game it can be easy to feel overwhelmed or get a little short with them, which is not fair on them. Also you are more likely to eat more when you are tired whic......
