The Art of Effortless Travel Style: Dressing Well When You're Constantly On The Move

Travel style has changed quite a bit over the past few years. We've moved away from heavily curated holiday wardrobes, a different outfit for every scenario, towards something far more relaxed and practical. These days, most of us think about versatility and comfort rather than planning for every eventuality. It's part of a wider shift towards simplicity, where less genuinely becomes more. And it fits neatly with the rhythm of cruise travel, where you move between places without ever repacking or checking in and out of different hotels. If you prefer a shorter, more flexible getaway, it's often simpler to build a wardrobe around something like mini cruise deals , which tend to nudge you towards lighter, more practical packing while still leaving room for plenty of variety along the way. None of this is about looking underdressed or losing your personal style. It's about building a wardrobe that does more with less, pieces that can be worn several ways, that move easily ......

Going travelling? How to pick the perfect backpack

I have been lucky enough to do a lot of travel in my life, from interrailling across Europe to backpacking across South Africa and camping on the West Coast of Scotland, I've have travelled in a variety of ways including backpacking for long periods of time so I felt it would be useful to share some of my expierence and put together a  guide to selecting backpacks .  The trusty backpack, if you pick the right one, it can be a game-changer when it comes to travel, esepically when you are travelling from city to city or doing a big hike-thru trail. I've done 3 backpacking Interrail trips, two before having kids and one with my kids , and I know firsthand how important it is to pick the right backpack as it can change how you experience travel in terms of logistics, comfort, and ease. Firstly, be practical . Pick your backpack for the purpose and length of the trip. If you are only going away for a weekend, then just opt for something small, durable and practical, and if you are ......

Easy Ways to Make Your Travel Time More Relaxing

Travelling can often be a stressful experience, whether you’re flying, driving, or taking a train. However, with a little planning and the right approach, you can transform your journey into a more enjoyable and relaxing experience. Here are some easy tips to help you reduce stress and make your travel time more peaceful. Plan Ahead to Minimise Stress The foundation of a stress-free journey starts with thorough planning. Booking accommodations and transport well in advance can help eliminate last-minute hassles. Organising your travel documents, checking your passport expiry, and even knowing where the closest pharmacies or emergency services are located in your destination can save time and reduce anxiety. Pack Light and Smart Overpacking can be overwhelming, especially when you have to lug heavy bags through crowded airports or train stations. Instead, pack only the essentials and opt for organised packing solutions like packing cubes or compression bags. Having a small, easy-to-reac......

How to always be ready for a last minute trip

Over the past few years we have had the odd occasion where the opportunity to go away at the last mintue has popped up, in fact that happened this month. We have now learnt how to pack very quickly for a family of four and getting this skill down to a tee means you can take advantage of those last minute travel deals in which time is the essence. Of course it is easier if you are traveling solo or as a couple but even as a family if you adhere to some basic rules and hacks than a quick break away at the last minute shouldn't cause to much stress. Firstly the most important thing to do is travel light! We very rarely every check any luggage in, instead we always have carry-on luggage. I actually managed to get my clothes and both of my boys into one small carry-on for a weekend, then usually John will take a small bag for him and between us we have our Kanken (small day pack) for small things like food, water and nappies on the go.  Essentials for last minute tra......

Minimalist Style for a Weekend Getaway

Whether your jetting off on a quick couples city break or taking the kids away on a weekend adventure the one thing that will make your trip easier and less stressful is packing smart by avoiding over packing and only taking what you need, reducing excess weight to lug around and travelling lighter. Over the past year I have really been trying to declutter my life and this includes how we travel as it can be so easy to take along things that never end up being worn so now I am far more stricter with myself while still wearing clothes I love and feel good in. Like most people I am also passionate about saving money and leaving as little footprint as possible when it comes to my plastic use while travelling so I also always make sure to take my reusable water bottle and coffee cup along for the ride.  I have put together a great little mood board for a stylish and minimalist inspired weekend away and is perfect for a holdall or cabin sized luggage but still has everythi......

How to Dress for a Long Haul Flight

Having done long haul flights, mainly from South Africa to the UK, from the age of 1yrs old I have a fair amount of experience when it comes to packing and thoughts I would share some top tips with you, if your planning on a trip this festive season. Choosing what to wear when going on a long haul flight can make what is often a long, boring and gruelling experience a little more comfortable and less hassle if you choose wisely. If like many of us you dress for the destination that you’re going to, you’ll probably find that half-way in you’re shivering thanks to the fact that planes turn their air-con up pretty high. This might not be too bad on a quick flight to Spain, but a 22-hour flight to Australia and you’ll feel like a block of ice. But, if you wear warm clothes on the plane, you’re going to be sweating as soon as you step off. What to Wear on Top When it comes to picking tops, it’s all about the layers. You’ll want to be able to layer up on the plane if it get......

How to plan a holiday with ease

No matter if it’s just a short city break, a week away in France or even a once in a lifetime roadtrip across America, a lot of planning goes into making a trip a smooth and enjoyable one. The first thing I do is get out a map of the area as well as general guide book on the area, then we as a family decide roughly where we want to go and what we want to see, after that we hit the internet with force. Our first stop is usually tripadvisor, airbnb, lonely planet, couch surfing, travel blogs and forums to name a few, with so much information is can be hard to keep on top of it or take it all in and with all those open tabs it can become a mess, the worst is finding a useful page or thread and then losing it in the chaos of planning never to be found again, well that’s where Tripcipe comes in as you can gather all your information from any website with one click and clip it onto a map for easy access and organisation and you can even take your plans with you on the road with it......

Our Amsterdam Style

So a few years back I lived and worked in Amsterdam for an amazing 9 months and will always be in love with this creative and stylish city. As a couple John and I have yet to visit the city together and is on our list of things to do, so when I heard Easy Jet were running a blogging competition I knew we had to enter it. Amsterdam really does have it's own sense of style, with a mix of european and bicycle chic. I have put together a little pinterest board of some of my favourite looks for the city and when we visit one day this is what we will be wearing (hopefully) - this is our "My Amsterdam city break look for easyJet holidays competition" I am big into quirky accessories and love big round glasses and lots of rings and feel they would work well when I am walking through the flower markets in the city. My bags of choice would change depending on the occasion - the satchel would be perfect for cycling around the city taking photos and enjoying the fre......
