The Time of Your Life in Lanzarote

I feel the need to get away from it all, somewhere warm and beautiful ( image ) I don't know about you but I am really craving some sun after this seemingly long winter and not just sun but warmth, the kind that brings on relaxed evenings spent in shorts and a t-shirt nearby a beautiful sandy beach. I have been to the Canary Islands before and they did not disappoint and despite some destinations being known for a more party aspect it's still easy to get away from it all and indulge in the local food and culture and this time I have my eye on somewhere like Lanzarote and here is why. Lanzarote is known for its year round sunshine. In the summer it boasts up to 14 hours of sunshine every day. This kind of glorious sunshine makes Lanzarote a perfect location for both sun worshippers and those who just can’t bear to stay indoors on a nice day. Firstly to really discover and explore all the amazing things the island has to see and do then I highly recommend to hire a c......

Dreaming of a Christmas in Kefalonia, Greece

Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia I have been to Greece a few times with my parents - we generally avoided large resorts and enjoyed Island hoping to some of the smaller islands such as Poros and Hydra being two of my favourite and I have some very fond memories of our times there, including coming across a beautiful secluded restaurant 2 miles up a hill through a lemon grove, no other customers were there and the owner made us feel so welcome and cooked us a real feast, he then showed us a nearby waterfall, it was one of those magical days. I would love to return to Greece with John and the little man as there are so many places to visit and with such friendly locals, warm weather, blue sea and wonderful food what more could you ask for in a holiday destination. I am particularly drawn to Kefalonia as even though it's one of the larger Ionia Islands it's actually one of the less inhabited and is great for a quiet, relaxed and outdoor filled holiday, which is something I reall......

Beach time Boy

So it's not been the warmest week but it has been fairly dry so we decided to head off to the seaside for a little bit of fun in the sand, which was a lovely change from our normal forest adventures. I feel really lucky that Mr A is not in school yet as it's means that week days are still fairly quiet - unlike the madness of school holidays which means packed beaches and less chilled atmosphere. We headed down to Barry, a beach I would normally not go to but we had a great time, collectingn three very pretty sea snail shells, making sand castles and dipping our feet into the sea - the first time this year. We enjoyed a little lunch on the sand, even though this meant being surrounded by seasgulls of which my little man has no fear and runs after then as soon as they come near. Even though it was windy we had fun running around and Mr A loved the sand between his toes, as did I. We also went for a little walk up above the beach with beautiful views across the channel and......
