Charming Sunday Style

All this beautiful weather and sunshine means a lot of time is being spent outdoors, less layers and more shorts and t-shirts - as I wrote earlier this week about dressing up a plain outfit with festival fashion accessories I also wanted to do a post about beautiful lazy British summers with feminine and elegant accessories, perfect for eating strawberries and drinking Pimms and relaxing in the sun, something which Pandora's jewellery captures perfectly. The ethos of Pandora is that it makes jewellery for women who embrace their own unique story and you can mix and match your own styles, dress up bracelets witch charms and customise your earrings with different styles and all their pieces are beautifully hand-finished. This Paris charm is so cute I love background story, as it started out in 1982 in a small jewellery shop in Copenhagen, Denmark by a Danish goldsmith and his wife. The charm bracelet concept was the first big concept to be embraced not only by the Da......

Soft and sophisticated

I am very much into broadening my appreciation for different types of jewellery at the moment and I am looking for something new and fresh for summer. I was and still am very much into the hand made, natural bracelets and little boho trinket style necklaces but now that I am getting older I want to invest in things that will stand the test of time and that I could possible hand down to children at some point. As with a lot of my jewellery I wear them until they are completely weathered, worn down or even broken, which I have to admit does take a long time, as I still believe in quality over quanity but perhaps choosing finer long-standing pieces means I can have something that out lives me. This does however not mean I want the design to be boring but still rather youthful and creative. PepperPink make some vibrant and colourful pieces that are easy to wear, affordable but very well made and are inspired by the artistic, edgy and thriving area of London's exciting Soho and Fitzrovi......

Beautiful and locally sourced Gems

Perhaps it's because I am from South Africa that I always lean towards anything african and for most people diamonds is the obvious choice when it comes to jewellery but my gemstone love is the rare Tanzanite - a gemstone only found in the foothills of Kilimanjaro and has such a deep and magical blue that my eyes get lost in it. When it comes to these things I like to know that it's come from a company who cares about the local people who attain these rare gemstones, they must have ethical foundations as a company and as my 30th Birthday gets closer and closer (next year!) I would love to have a ring I could past down to my children or grandchildren. So when I heard of Gems TV and that they work with the local communities in Africa and with every purchase they donate and support The Colourful Life Foundation, which is involved with numerous health, education and community initiatives in Africa is the right choice for me when looking for a genuine, ethical and beautiful p......

Lovin little things - South African Jewellery

Soooo here a few little things that are inspiring me and making me feel all warm inside. I am in love with the blog - Vintage is the New Black and is run by Noir Ohio who is a stylish and ebay owner and sells all her wonderful vintage finds on her ebay shop - and she does find the most amazing clothes! My next item to love is the new Gucci for Unicef bag for 2009 - I WANT IT!!! And after paying the high price for it atleast you will feel good about yourself knowing that a percentage of the profits goes to UNICEF programs for orphans and children affected by HIV.   My last love is for my mother for bring back these lovely pieces of jewellery from her trip to Cape Town in South Africa. They all have such an organic feel to them, either made out of stone, wood or shells, and I love the chunky red necklace. She also brought back these recycled earrings as a joke, as they are made out of the local beer can tops, but I really love the actually :)     ...
