We are very lucky to leave near a quite country park and after my op I was excited to visit it while I get my energy levels back up to normal. We can enjoy hours here relaxing and enjoying the simple things like looking for minnows in the babbling river or talking to the friendly ducks. We also watched some beautiful blue dragonflies whizzing around. I love this time of the year as everything is coming to bloom and we noticed a few little duckings on the river. A cycle track runs through the park which is great as it provides a smooth path to cycle along and joins up to a waterfall and large green spaces. Mr A couldn't wait to get his helmet off when we go to the field leading up to the adventure park. Just one of those easy and simple days out, me and the little man, having fun in the fresh air. Another exciting milestone we reached this week was pulling our first load of potatoes, we would of normally left them for a few more weeks but this one potato bag ......

Discover the real valleys
Mr A with a view of the Rhondda Valley So with the MTV show The Valleys coming to a close I felt it was time to share my thoughts about the "real" valleys. First of all we are renting a small cottage just outside Cardiff, it takes us 23 minutes from our front door to the city centre, on a good day it can be even less, which I have to say to get from any house to the heart of a city is not bad at all, yet our house falls within "the Valleys" but on the show they make out like it's a 100 miles away! We are on the commuter belt, a lot of people who live in this area commute everyday to Cardiff, the are all "making it" in the city, but they often opt to live outside the city due to house prices. I am not going to sugar coat the fact that there are parts of the Valleys that are deprived, lack good transport links, lack good facilities, where ever second shop is closed down and areas that have drug and teenage pregnancy problems, but is there not a p......

Exploring new ground
Mr A saying thank-you to the Green Man for all the trees. So the weather has still been a bit hit and miss here in South Wales but we have had a few patches of glorious sun and tried to make the most of those moments. Since we are on the look out for our next new home, me and the little man have started to explore parks and outdoor areas we have driven past many times but never stopped to have a better look and learn more about the surrounding area. This week we decided to have a good wander around the small but beautiful formed Thompson park in Canton - a lovely little place with a duck pond, wild flowers and some wonderful wooded areas and a lovely green man carving in an old tree. Mr A found a "perfect for toddlers" tree to climb in and called it his castle, I was relegated to a tree stump as my castle but we had a great fun. I feel that it's very important for Mr A to realise that nature needs to be looked after and respected, he did me proud but pointing out som......

The week spring arrived
So finally after the snow, rain and cold snaps it finally feels like spring has sprung and this week has been a bumper week for getting outdoors and having some adventures with the little man. It couldn't of come at a better time as my mother has been ill in hospital and being able to get outside in the fresh air between visiting times has really helped with what has been quite a stressful week. On the first sunny day of the week we went for a walk near the river Taff, climbing over mole-hills and collecting sticks. On our adventures We have also spent some time at the local country park feeding the ducks, walking through the long grass, collecting things for our nature table and having fun on the swings. The great thing about the warmer weather is that we can stay our for longer, even though we always wrap up well it's great being that little bit more comfortable. Mr A taking on the spiderweb Duck watching We also spent some time this week exploring ......
