Doing our bit for Red Nose Day

So being from South Africa and seeing poverty first hand I know how important charities like Comic Relief and Red Nose day can be. In fact I have fond memories of red nose day in South Africa, I would bug my mother for ages for a red nose and one to fit on the car as well. I usually would do a 5km sponsored walk from around the age of 9 yrs old till I was into high-school - this was something organised locally to me every year. Now however times are hard for everyone, with the UK still deep in recession and the cost of living soaring it can be hard to be as generous as before, but there are still loads of ways to support the charity. Little Mr A and I doing our bit :) If you read Side Street you'd know that we support various charities and campaigns in whatever way we can - be this through helping promote campaigns, donating a small amount ourselves or getting involved with events. With Red Nose Day this year I have tried to make it practical and fun for all of us without u......

Shades of Autumn

This weekend we spent the one dry day outside at St Fagans outdoor museum near Cardiff, which Mr A loves. It was really busy as Scouts from around Wales had converged on the outdoor museum for a  camping weekend and while we where there Bear Grylls flew in on a helicopter and landed in a cows field - for real! It was really quite chilly and Mr A had the chance to wear his new Boden's jacket we got for him for his birthday, and it was actually really nice to dress all warm and snug, even though most of the layers came off after running around. It was beautiful to see the leaves change colour. So I think we can officially say goodbye to summer and hello Autumn and all the lovely shades that go with this season, beautiful browns and greens, big knits and warm accessories like gloves and scarfs. I always think of Paris and how stylish the men and women are and the well fitted Mac's and boots and berets. When the days become colder, nights darker and shorter I think somet......

Autumn is here! New season and giveaway

So I went for walk in a nearby park, I love this time of the year when the seasons change, just like the colours in nature fade from bright new greens to yellows and browns, so do the themes and colour trends in fashion. I am really excited about the new season as I love vintage prep in the form of Satchel bags, leathers and brogues. Also camel and greys, big knits and all wonderful warm things :).  I love autumn colours...and blackberries...so when I saw these I had to take a photo. So if price was not an option this is what would be on my autumn season shopping list....  Acne Olga Shearling Hat £295  Alexander McQueen Lace Knuckleduster clutch £1285 Chloe Bird Print silk blouse £755 Burberry Prorsum knitted slim fit jacket £695  Diane Von Furstenberg Ceila Dress £318  Grafia Leather Satchel  Pringle laser cut top £795  Stella McCarthney, Linda McCarthney photograph top £115 Nearly all of these items......

Notebook photoshoot love

So I came across this photoshoot in a magazine the other day and simply loved the deep reds, rings and jackets. The one thing I love about the changing seasons is it will soon be time for Mac's and coats (although I would prefer for it to be summer all year round). For some reason this photoshoot reminds me of Paris, I am not sure why. I heart this whole outfit, especially the Miu Miu dress and  the ankle socks I really want this Cerruti sweater and Stella McCartney shoes!! ...
