Z Hotel City, London - Family Travel Review

*This is NOT a collaboration, I paid for my hotel stay in full We love a break to the big smoke AKA London, there is just so much to see and do and it's a place you can never get bored of. It's also a destination that despite what most people think, you can easily do on a budget as there is such an abundance of free museums, attractions and deals to be had as well as plenty of street food and reliable public transport really does mean you don't need to spend a fortune to enjoy this bustling city, which is why we visit at least 2/3 time a year. Every time I take the kids for an overnight trip I aim to get a centrally located hotel or hostel for under £85 for a family room.  We have stayed in an array of places from an Airbnb right in the heart of Covent Garden to Premier Inn, Travelodges, YHA, backpackers etc and on a recent trip we decided to try out a Z Hotel family room . I had stayed overnight in a Z hotel before in Soho but that was without kids so I was interested to s......

Where to Stay in London

I don't know about you but when I visit a popular city or destination I try and discover what really makes the place tick, where the locals go to eat, drink etc while attempting to avoid any touristy traps and if you follow the blog most of you will already know that either for work, family, friends or one reason or another we are lucky enough to visit London a few times a year, usually with the little man in tow, which is always an adventure. Mr A enjoying the outdoors in Regents Park We often find ourself asking why we don't live there but as much as we enjoy all the buzz of the city in small doses we very much enjoy the quiet of the welsh countryside and having the chance to do a bit of both is something we are very grateful for. When we are in the city for one night only we often opt for a budget friendly hotel but if we are staying any longer and have Mr A with us we tend to go for self-catering and with so much choice it can often be overwhelming. At the end o......

Airwick National Parks

A casual look for a trip back to the big smoke So literally a few days after we came back from our short family break in London the little man and I were off again, on the fast train back to the big smoke. This time however we had company in the form of the lovely and creative blogger Fritha from Tigerlilly Quinn and her son Wilf who we met at Bristol Templed Meads. It was really nice for the little man to have some company and it took the stress off us having to keep them entertained as they played and laughed together most of the way there. The two boys playing hide and seek The reason for our trip was to find out more about the intriguing new fragrances from Airwick whose range is inspired from our much loved National Parks including one dear to our heart the Brecon Beacons - a place we visit regularly during spring and summer so it was delight to be invited to join the Airwick team for lunch at Brasserie Blanc in Covent Garden. A living tree - part of the ......

Our chic short break to London

Walking towards St Pauls In all honesty London is fairly close to us - a two hour direct train and we are there and I frequently visit the capital for work, although saying that it's always for work and I never have any free time to enjoy this amazing city. So when an old friend was coming over from South Africa for a week to enjoy all that London has to offer we thought it was a perfect time to book a short family break and really take our time to enjoy this action packed city. We have been wanting to try out AirBnB for a longtime and thought this was the perfect opportunity. our first choice was a studio in Notting hill but was not available for the dates we wanted to travel so we found a lovely one bedroom flat right in the centre of Covent Garden, with a patio so the little man could enjoy a bit of outdoor time. What attracted us to this flat was the chic and simple interior with some lovely features as that is the things about such an amazing city we want to be in......

London Life - A short break in the city

We have been in London for the past few days, staying in Covent Garden in a rented apartment - you always feel alive in this city and despite what some people think it's a great place for kids, as well a adults of course. We have been indulging in bistros, cafes, craft beers and raw food. On Monday we woke up to a sunny day - so rocked the shades, loving London The Wild Food Cafe in Neal's Yard is lovely - such good food John enjoying some Bethnal Pale Ale at Honest Burger ...

London Love and Travel Giveaway

This is the second instalment to our little weekend jaunt to the big smoke for John's birthday, we had an action packed first day and after a restful nights sleep in the hotel we went in search of coffee and something tasty to start the day. Luckily being situated in Soho we were spoilt for choice and we pretty much stumbled soon across Cafe Boheme instantly, a beautiful Parisian inspired cafe with an inviting interior and fairly simple breakfast menu (I hate vast menus). We literally had the most amazing coffee - strong and creamy and I opted for some lovely blueberry crepes. Very yummy crepes and amazing coffee After breakfast we headed over to Covent Garden to have a look through the market, I was on the lookout for a vintage pair of shades but unfortunately didn't find any that fit although we did pop into Fred Perry, where I managed to pick up a really cute dungaree skirt, perfect for summer, we also picked up a little London Taxi from the Transport Mus......
