Cofton Holidays Devon - Family Travel Review

During the last weekend of summer we jumped into the car and headed down to Devon, a place we have passed through many times but haven't stopped to explore properly until now so we were really excited to discover what makes Devon such a popular family holiday destination. As we managed to see and do so much during our 4 days stay I have decided to spilt this across two posts with this one focusing on Cofton Holidays , a holiday park offering an array of accommodation from camping to cottages and stylish apartments right in the heart of South Devon After we got stuck in some pretty bad traffic around Bristol we were so happy to get off the motorway and drive through the pretty windy roads of Devon towards Cofton which is near the quaint seaside village of Dawlish. Checking in was a breeze and the staff were really helpful, handing over a welcome pack with all the information we needed and our park passes for the weekend. We were staying just off the main site at their newe......

5 easy ways to improve your Apartment

When I first came over to the UK I lived in Edinburgh, a city I absolutely adore. What I always loved about the city was all the beautiful old flats above the shops right in the heart of the city and I was over the moon to find a wonderful two bed flat only 15mins walk from the hughstreet which I rented with a friend. Since then I have rented a few different flats and apartments and as we gear up to sell our house apartment living is still not out of the question as there is something really appealing about living right in the heart of the city in a stylish flat. I thought I would share a few tips about styling and apartment and that interior decoration doesn't have to be overly expensive. 1. Declutter    As apartments are usually a little smaller than houses the first step you should take is to bring down the clutter and simplify every room. Get rid of all trinkets and unneeded paraphernalia, and bring accessories down to the basics before trying to come up wit......

Love travel and have a spare room. Tips on hosting guests

I n recent years there has been a big shift in tourism trends being adopted by homes to create an authentic experience of combining the convenience of a hotel with home decor and living like a local. It seems the more we travel the more we want to incorporate new trends into our home lives as well as getting a more culturally authentic experience. We have adopted this into the way we make our travel arrangements having stayed in Airbnb apartments, hotel apartments and serviced apartments which have given us a great base to explore the local area as well as being self catering which is our preferred way to travel with kids. This recent trend has led to the serviced apartment sector  as well private room rentals becoming increasingly popular and, as a result, increasingly competitive. Previously guests were simply looking for a comfortable, welcoming experience around them and surrounding them but now they are also looking for a space that is going to add to their overall ......

Stylish London Apartment Stay with FG

We always try and spend a little bit of time in London each summer and decided to squeeze in a few days before we headed to Holland earlier this month and were lucky enough to have 3 days to explore the capital as well as being the first people to stay in this brand new one bedroom apartment from FG Property Management in the heart of Earls Court. It was pretty exciting being asked to come and stay and see what we think of this new building, part of which is still under construction and will be open to the public near the end of summer, because of this we didn't actually know what to expect but once we opened the door to this large and airy apartment we were impressed by how spacious and stylish it felt. The flat consisted of a large lounge/kitchen room with two beautiful windows, a sofa bed, TV, dining table and modern kitchen space with everything you need to rustle up a good meal, although with so many great bars and restaurants within walking distance you m......

Parisian interiors and our little adventure

I love the large windows and all the natural light (i mage ) I have to say I have always been attracted to city living, especially on old apartments that have been styled in a chic and creative way. I have been lucky enough to live in the centre of Cape Town, Edinburgh and Amsterdam, all in traditional flats and there is something comforting about not having a lot of space but using it to the full making the most of it and I think the french have it down to a tee. High ceilings, large windows, lots of light and beautiful furniture - I always feel inspired. When we recently stayed in the city of lights we opted for an Airbnb apartment - the one we initial picked was very stylish and beautifully designed but unfortunately it was not available - our second choice was more practical but perfectly located and was very clean and had everything we needed including a great host who showed us around the flat, gave us the keys and said if we needed anything to give him a call, coul......

Our chic short break to London

Walking towards St Pauls In all honesty London is fairly close to us - a two hour direct train and we are there and I frequently visit the capital for work, although saying that it's always for work and I never have any free time to enjoy this amazing city. So when an old friend was coming over from South Africa for a week to enjoy all that London has to offer we thought it was a perfect time to book a short family break and really take our time to enjoy this action packed city. We have been wanting to try out AirBnB for a longtime and thought this was the perfect opportunity. our first choice was a studio in Notting hill but was not available for the dates we wanted to travel so we found a lovely one bedroom flat right in the centre of Covent Garden, with a patio so the little man could enjoy a bit of outdoor time. What attracted us to this flat was the chic and simple interior with some lovely features as that is the things about such an amazing city we want to be in......

Let in the light and Pin to win

As you may know we are in the middle of houses at the moment, having sold our old house just before Christmas and we are now renting a little cottage just outside of Cardiff, and are currently on the lookout for our next "home". I am dreamer when it comes to these things, I mean why not aspire to live somewhere inspiring! Perhaps this is because the flat I lived in with a friend in Cape Town had the most amazing view of the mountain and city with a large balcony and windows that would let in the light, and it rarely failed to take my breath away every morning. I am in love with floor to ceiling windows and would love to live in a Victorian bay fronted house or an old warehouse or parisian apartment. I like rooms to have little nooks and crannies but also to be bright and airy and I love the idea of the outside coming in and the warmth of natural light. However I am not a huge fan or early morning sun every morning (anything before 7am is a bit of a no no) so I would hang......
