Hyatt Regency London Stratford Hotel Review

Hyatt Regency London Stratford

Stratford, the perfect base for a weekend family break in London. This East London town which has been transformed from a once industrial area is now packed with bars, shops and parks and is one of London's most vibrant and well-connected areas.

I've travelled to London many times with my boys and there are a few things that always ensure a calmer and less stressful break in the big smoke, one main one being the location of the hotel and despite Hyatt Regency London Stratford not being in zone 1 it makes for the perfect location for families.

Arriving in to Paddington it's a quick 18mins direct underground trip along the Elizabeth to Stratford and even less from Stratford to Tottencourt Rd in the heart of central London. Stratford is not only well connected to central London via underground, train and bus but also to Canary Wharf and Greenwich via the DLR and we found Stratford an easier location to reach than more obvious ones in the city.

Hyatt Stratford

The Hyatt Regency is only a short walk from the central underground and train hub which brings you straight into Westfield Stratford City Centre with its shops, art installations and street food, the hotel is also directly next to Gravity Max which kids will absolutely love.

Entering on the ground floor you are immediately welcomed by the concierge who are happy to assist with any questions you have before heading up to the main reception, where you will also find the stunning roof terrace and Elondi Restaurant. Check-in was a breeze and you also have the option of doing a digital check-in.

Rooms

When it comes to families Hyatt Regency Stratford have you covered, they offer stylish rooms with a King Size bed and double Sofa bed with more than enough space for 2 adults and 2 children as well as interconnecting rooms (if you cannot see the option online then just give them a call and they can arrange this).

We stayed in an interconnecting room so one room with a plush King Sized bed and the other had twin beds, both with bathrooms and a small sitting area, which was the perfect setup for my boys and I. There was also a small welcome surprise of delicious chocolate and fruit, hotels that go they little bit further for customers wih extra attention to detail can really help shape a stay in a positive way.

When it came to sleep the beds are incredibly comfortable and the individual climate control is easy to use. The bathrooms are also beautifully designed with large rain showers and luxury toiletries, it feels like an indulgent treat staying where while remaining family-friendly and accessible.

Food

We stayed for two nights and on both days enjoyed a delicious breakfast on offer at Hyatt. There is an abundance of choice when it comes to breakfast from pastries and fruit to full English as well as vegan and gluten-free options. I really liked the yoghurt and granola pots with compote and the kids of course loved the option of having fresh doughnuts for breakfast.

We also enjoyed a delicious meal one evening at the Elondi Restaurant which offers a fresh seasonal menu as well as options for the kids, who really enjoyed the burgers. Right next to the restaurant, you will also find the Elondi Bar area which has a laid-back speak easy feel and follows through outside to the beautiful roof terrace, a great place to relax after a long day of exploring the city.

The area

As I've already mentioned Straford is very well connected and it's easy to get in and out of the area to other parts of London, During out stay we had no issues getting into zone one to visit the British Museum as well as taking the DLR to Canary Wharf and Greenwich and then the train to Camden, so from that perspective it's a fantastic location.

What I really like about Stratford though is that it offers a bit more space than central London and feels less manic in parts. We really enjoyed exploring the Queen Elizabeth Oylmpic Park which is only a 2min walk from the hotel and with over 560 acres to explore there is plenty of space for kids to run out some energy, as well as some fantastic play parks, cafes and attractions such as the Lee Valley Velodrome and London Aquatics Centre.

When it comes to eating and shopping you are also spoilt for choice with the hotel being only meters away from Westfield Shopping centre.

Would we stay again?

Absolutely, it's a great location with fantastic facilities and plenty to do within a few minutes for the hotel. The staff are also very welcoming and accommodating of families and we had a very comfortable stay with both kids sleeping very well. The hotel is also fully accessible for those with mobility issues, is dog friendly (extra charge) and also offers a gym on the 12 floor.

* Our stay at Hyatt Regency London Stratford was part of a press trip - however, my words are my own & I always offer an unbiased review.
