5 ways to live more sustainably in 2024

* This post may contain affiliate links.   Now more than ever we know we need to do what we can in terms of cutting down our personal impact on the earth and that some of our daily habits need to be changed to encourage this. However, it's not a bad thing, in fact, these changes usually have a positive effect all round and are fairly easy to implement. Changes like this also need to be seen as long-term goals and nothing one and one situation - I've already do most of these things.  So here are 5 ways to live more sustainably this year 1.  Travel - focus on flight-free destinations and reduce your car use  We all love to go on holiday but if you are based in the UK with Europe right on your doorstep, there are so many ways to completely cut out flying while still enjoying a sunny destination while taking advantage of the fantastic trains and bus networks across Europe. Travelling by public transport is the most sustainable and often economical way to go, in 2022......

Street Style Sunday - LBD

Yeah it's Sunday and that means Street Style Sunday linkup - hope you can come and join in with anything fashion related from what is inspiring you to what you and your family is wearing. The weather has really taken a turn for the better this week, warm spring sunshine and the feeling that summer is just around the corner, which has meant all those heavy winter jacket being packed away and skirts, dresses and chambrays are out. I have also welcomed spring with a slight hairstyle update in the form of a fringe Since I am feeding Baby G it can be pretty hard to find a decent nursing dress, something that is both stylish and practical. While I was pregnant I work this Bibee tunic dress which works both as a maternity and nursing dress and is perfect for this time of year since as it's long sleeved but not too warm and can be worn with leggings on cooler days. Today was also the perfect opportunity to wear these cute Hush Puppies penny loafer style shoes I picked u......

Life lately.....

So with the summer holidays it has pretty much been go go go but we have had moment of enjoying the little things and trying to slow down. I love having flowers in the home and this bouquet filled with sunflowers has been my favourite so far. I also found these amazing brogues in an Oxfam shop in Cardiff - brand new by Hush Puppies! I have been spending rainy days with the little man in Ikea getting Scandi inspiration for the home as well as making masks - good times all round...

Wardrobe inspiration

I love this simply style (image)  It's one of those things we all need and use every day, it holds a lot about what we say about ourselves, what we wear, memories and is so much more than just a piece of furniture and yet so many of us are happy with ill fitted wardrobes or ones that are not practical or simply do not reflect you as a person and I am speaking from personal experience here. We have a large cumbersome wardrobe in pine (urgh) which is going to be having a huge overhaul this summer (getting out the sand paper and beautiful chalk paints), the thing is it's locally made so it's worth upgrading it but if I could start over again I would be tempted to go for something a little bit more custom When it comes to redesigning your wardrobe space keep a few things in mind 1. Keep it simple and go from there, the Scandinavians do this perfectly and you can always add as you go along 2. Work with what you have within the space you have, if you have ......

Hotter shoes getting hotter

Recently I was lucky enough to be asked to review the Hotter shoe store in Cardiff St Davids, a fairly recent store to the city and not one I had shopped in before. I was familiar with the brand Hotter and had recently seen there latest campaign of surprisingly on trend and stylish designs, as most people when they think Hotter think orthopaedic shoes for the older generation but fear not this really is not the case as I found out. Being a busy mum I want a shoes that are not only going to be stylish but also durable, lightweight and fingers crossed very comfy, which at times can be a huge ask, but I am pleased to say Hotter really hit all of those on the head, especially the comfort side of things. Laura wears - Pure Collection capelet, M&S tee, Max Studio trousers, Hotter boots,  vintage bag and Linea necklace The store was dynamic in layout and I love the green colour scheme and inspiring imagery on the walls. I also have to say how friendly, welcoming and kn......

An eco casual outfit

So we had glorious weather yesterday and it wasn't to bad the day before, which has meant a lot of time has been spent outdoors the past couple of days, going to a country park and then the beach, the best thing though is that it's been warmer in the evenings. John comes home pretty late on occasion so sometimes it's nice to make a little bit of an effort, throw together a nice salad and sit in the garden and enjoy the clear sky (for once). It was a perfect evening to show off my new shorts from the HM Conscious eco friendly range. I love the olive colour and added sparkle from the beads, they are also a nice loose fabric, I paired it up with my lovely printed top from the sustainable and organic label Prana. When I was cleaning out my wardrobe the other day I came across these shoes, which I haven't worn in such a longtime, possibly even before Mr A was born, they are from Rocket Dog and are really cute, comfy and give a little added lift. The bag my mother picked u......

Guest post - Dress up Photo shoots

Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of being a mom. From the moment I turned five I automatically knew I wanted a boy and a girl. Nothings seemed more perfect than having one of each and to enjoy the best of both worlds. So here I am twenty-five years later and that is just what I have, Caleb and Anna. Caleb is courageous and combative in his aggressive play, always looking for a good opportunity to wrestle you to the ground. Anna is as petite and feminine as a girl could get, with her four pretend-children of her own and spectacular ability to color on everything in sight. One thing they both have in common is neither of them is shy. In fact, at times it can get a bit ridiculous. They love to get their picture taken, but they love to perform for mom and dad while getting their picture taken even more. Truthfully we get just as much a kick out of watching them as they do posing and performing for us. Needless to say, one of our favorite things to do is to take picture......

What I would of worn

On the friday just gone was the tots100 Blog Summit in Bristol - an event I had been looking forward to for the past month, unfortunately the day before I started to feel a bit off colour and thursday night was spent on the couch being very uncomfortable after coming down with the winter stomach bug (norovirus), this meant I was going nowhere on friday, although I did get to see some photos and comments about the event as it was happening through twitter. John would of come with me although he could not get the time off work and I had already picked an outfit to wear and had organised childcare with the grandparents - who came and picked little Mr A up anyway as I was in no way capable of looking after him and myself at this point. Luckily though 4 days later the colour has returned to my face and I am feeling a lot better so I thought I would still share with you what I was planning to wear to tots100 Blog Summit. I wanted to wear something that was casual, comfortable but a......
