All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias I'm going to level with you here between losing of good friends to illnesses last year as well as during the latter months struggling with stress, anxiety and anaemia I felt really burnt out by December and very much on edge. Christmas felt a bit like a tipping point, I had been working towards a calmer more minimalist approach to things and it felt like I was railroaded by others in so many ways, I felt I had to compromise way to much for others with little return, I put everyone else's needs before my own and my body suffered because of it. At the start of January, I had another emotional rollercoaster as I faced losing another one of my longest friends to a terminal illness and saying goodbye almost broke me but in reflection, I know events like this show how resilient we really are, as woman, as mothers, to carry on. I took a much need......

Personal hearing loss stories
My mother and the family dog, Sam My mother as most mothers are is a constant source of inspiration for me, see is a real go-getter, independent and does't let the fact that see was born with only one functioning eardrum stop her. She is completely deaf in one ear and her hearing is not 100% in the other ear but you really wouldn't know. She doesn't wear a hearing aid as there is nothing that can be done with regards to the affected ear, although she has a very small in-ear aid for the working ear. She spent my childhood moving me around to the side she can hear when walking down the street but otherwise she has always worked, doesn't have a disability badge and would never want to be treated differently. This can-do attitude to life is just one of the many reason I look up to her as well as anyone else living with hearing loss. I am so grateful for being able to hear my son. I myself have also been affected, although not too heavily, by hearing loss. ......

A Welsh Getaway - a sneak peak
So late week my mother surprised me to a little 2 day getaway in rural West Wales which was really what we needed. Unfortunately John could not come with due to work but it was great to have some quality time with my mother and the little man. It's been a rather up and down couple of months after surgery and generally having some negative people around me has not helped, so our cottage break was welcomed with open arms and oh how I long to live in the countryside. We stayed in a traditional Croft Loft Cottage with a very large garden which had a wonderful apple tree to sit under and overlooked a field with horses and ponies. The evenings were warm and we ate outside, it was blissful and I cannot wait to share everything we got up too. Us lying under the apple tree ...
