Give back with the Toy Appeal at St Davids
As they say the festive season is just as much about giving as it is receiving and the Toy Appeal in St Davids Shopping Centre in Cardiff makes it so easy to give a little back, even when your in the throws of Christmas Shopping. They are simply asking shoppers to pick up an extra toy to donate, that will ensure every child in South Wales receives something special this Christmas. The Toy Appeal is supporting 20 key charities across South Wales including Sparkle, Ty Hafan, Llamau, George Thomas Hospice, Home-Start and Valley Kids. This is the third year we are making a donation to the Toy appeal and I also think this is a great chance to educate children on how important it is to give back and think of others especially as this time of the year and my youngest was very proud to hand over the toy we picked up from Hamleys. The Donation Station is open until the 22nd December and is located on the lower level near the lego store. When you donate you are g......

Mothers Day gifts that give back
As you may already know I am trying to massively minimalism my life and belongings and what I bring into the home, so when I do purchase something I try to find products that give a little bit back to this beautiful worlds of ours. Giving presents can be so incredibly satisfying and at times far more so than receiving so I thought I would share a few ethically inspired gifts that would make great presents for that all important mother figure in your life this Mothers Day. I thought first I would start off with one my favourite Interior Stores - The White Company and their White Heart Foundation collection. This foundation and collection is committed to helping vulnerable women and children build a brighter future but donating 10% of sales to three fantastic charities - Prince's Trust, Refuge and Place2Be. Out of the collection I love this Shopper Tote bag above which is currently on sale at £11.20 as well as this beautiful Porto Stoneware Heart Plate below - both wo......
Like most mothers today I worry about the future, about what kind of world we are bringing our children up in as well as what we are leaving behind. I am mindful of trying to leave as little trace as possible, to replant, to recycle, to be aware and make educational choices. Living in the UK I am fully aware of how unbelievably lucky we are, my worries revolve around what we are going to eat for supper or what crafts I can set up to entertain the children while others in this world of ours are faced with hardships many cannot fully comprehend. Growing up in South Africa has meant my eyes have always been open to suffering, we saw it daily and I try and make my children aware of what gratitude really it and how comfortable our life is in comparison to others. Each and every year we try and giveback as much as we can from little gestures of purchasing Christmas cards where the profits go to charity to making small donations to select charities of our choice. This year however I am ......
Is there really a more magical time of the year for children than Christmas? We always try and find a balance between celebrating and enjoying the festive season but also showing our children how important it is to give back, be kind and do our bit for those who are not as fortunate as ourselves. It's easy to forget at this time of the year how hard life can be for those who have very little or are struggling with illness so St Davids Shopping Centre in the heart of Cardiff are running for the second year the Toy Appeal which helps collect and distribute toys across South Wales and received more than 5200 donations last year. My eldest making his donation at the Toy Appeal in St Davids It's so easy to get involved and last week while my two boys were extremely lucky to be meeting up with the big red man himself at Hamleys and blissfully decorating biscuits, dancing with Elves and enjoying all the festivities that come with this time of year, we made a point to......
