Tips on mental wellness and stress reduction for professionals

We all know how important it is to stay on top of our mental health and try to create a life that isn't constantly filled with stress, whether we do this through lifestyle changes, exercise, and mental wellness activities in the aim to help balance our highly active and depleting lifestyles. In my experience, society as it stands doesn’t seem to care too much about improving mental health in a proactive way, only identifying it when it is considered toxic.  So we often have to take things into our own hands and ensure to find a balance that works and which includes making sure we take a break every now and then. I am not talking about a working vacation or brief getaway that is too short to be anything but symbolic but a proper break from it all when finances allow. We need real time to decompress and let the world wash out of our thoughts. To remain resilient in the workplace, in public, at home and when parenting, we need time away from the constant pressure of life.  Discon......

London to Ibiza, why Winter is the best time to visit the island

*This post contains affiliate links  Ibiza, for many people the first thing that comes to mind is "party town" and yes in summer that is very much the case but the cooler months are completely different and locals back this up with many of them recommending visiting the Island in winter and here is why.   1. Less crowded and more relaxing I won't beat around the bush here, Summer in Ibiza is very busy and crowded, mainly with a younger crowd but the same cannot be said for the off-season months appeal to a different crowd, those who want to explore the island and take in the fantastic natural landscapes and sunsets as well as relax, in peace. Going off-season also allows you to soak up the local charm and heritage the island has to offer.  2. Mangable temperatures In the summertime temperatures easily rise above 30 degrees and for many, this can be quite taxing, especially if you want to get out and explore the island. During the off-season temperatures are still war......

5 Reasons why you need to visit St Ives

If you follow me on social media you know will that we recently headed down to beautiful St Ives in Cornwall. Most people are aware of how special Cornwall is with its breathtaking coastlines, white sandy beaches, quaint harbors and captures that laid-back vibe you want when you go away. Having studied in Falmouth a decade ago I had visit St Ives a few times before but of course it had been many years since I've been back so I was really excited to return, this time with my kids in tow to create some new memories and show them one of my favourite parts of the UK. Being someone who is passionate about staycations and discovering what is on your doorstep, places like St Ives are perfect for a family break away as the weather does tend to be better the more south you go and with so much to see makes it a great option and I thought I would share 5 reasons why it should be on your bucket list. 1. Take in all the Art For those who don't know, St Ives is a real haven for ......

5 Short-Haul Exotic European Destinations

When it comes to exotic destinations we often thinks of places like Thailand, Costa Rica or far-flung Caribbean islands but you really don't have to hop onto a long haul flight to find those white sands and crystal blue seas as there are plenty of short haul exotic destinations right here in Europe, making them a great for a mini-escape when you have had frankly enough of the unpredictable British weather. This list could easily be doubled what I am going to share but I thought I would put together a mix of places I have either been to or want to visit and certainly capture that exotic far-flung feeling. 1. Isles of Scilly Less than a 10-minute flight from Lands End and you are instantly transported to somewhere so unique and special you will wonder why you have never visited before. We spent a week exploring the Isles of Scilly in 2016 and have been dreaming of going back ever since. Every morning we woke up to the most beautiful views and would take barefoot strolls on ......

Standup Paddleboarding and exploring Swansea Bay

If you follow me on instagram you may already know that we recently spent a fantastic weekend exploring Swansea Bay and the Gower and wow what a weekend it was. Even though technically we don't live that far from Swansea as Cardiff is only an hour away we didn't actually realise how much of the Swansea peninsular we hadn't seen, despite having visited Swansea city centre and Mumbles before there is just so much more to this part of South Wales. It was a long overdue trip especially as I am very keen on watersports having grown up surfing in South Africa and the first activity of the weekend was Standup Paddleboarding with Matt from SUP Gower on the beautiful Swansea Canal at the Cyldach Heritage Centre. Having not put my wetsuit on since before having my youngest 3yrs ago I was a little worried it was going to be on the tight side but luckily it was okay and I didnt even need to breath in too much to zip it up. Once all suited and booted Matt took me thro......

Tenby and Kidwelly Castle

Every year during the colder months since I was 37 weeks pregnant with my now 3yr old we have visited Tenby for a weekend break, just to get away from the city and enjoy what has got to be one of the best coastlines in the UK. The pretty pastel houses that line the harbour and overlook the beaches never fail to make me feel joyful not matter how wintery it may feel. West Wales in general just seems to have this element of slowness to it, it seems less rushed and I find it's a great place to just recalibrate and enjoy some quality time with the boys. We have been lucky that each time we have gone the sun has always shined and even though the temperatures are low at this time of the year seeing the sunshine is always an added bonus and meant two full days outdoors, on the beach, climbing rocks, eating good food and even though its only around two hours from Cardiff it really feels much further away. We arrived just in time to catch the sunset from the beach and......

Sand and Simplicity at Llantwit Major

Even though we have been very busy this summer holidays our main focus has been on simplicity, especially when we are home and not travelling or in the city. Personally I tend to avoid crowds, busy and over stimulating places and find that we always have the best time when we strip things back, get outside and just enjoy nature.  A day at the beach is a summer stable but even that can be overwhelming and stressful and it's easily to find yourself bombarded by all the noise of a busy beachfront which is why we opted for more rugged and quieter parts of the Welsh coastline. One of our favourite beaches in Llantwit Major especially if you time the tide right and exposes an array of rock pools in which to spot some crabs and fishes as well as a large sandy beach and inspiring coastal walks.  We headed down just after lunchtime with little more than some towels and a bucket and spade. Despite it being a dry and fairly sunny day it was Wonderfully quiet mea......
