Enjoying ice-cream in Antibes The French Riviera is one of those places that is just perfect for those looking to get away to warmer climates, take in the stylish and laid back Riveria culture, French food and of course stunning beaches. There is also a wonderful combination of countryside and city adventures from small hilltop villages to explore to the designer shops in Cannes, it has it all. It's also a place that makes for a fantastic family break and it's somewhere I keep going back too. I was lucky enough to live and work in Nice for a few months before having children and on my days off I often headed further afield to Antibes, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, St Paul De Vence and Eze Village so it made sense look at a holiday in France with the kids and share this breath-taking coastline with them. For my 30th birthday two years ago I decided that I wanted to spend this milestone birthday on the Riviera and we opted for a stay in a James Villa in Valbonn......

A family guide to the South of France

A night in Cannes
If you read the blog you may already know that last year I turned 30 and we decided to go on a little road trip (well train trip) around France, taking in Paris and the South and enjoying a lovely week in the small hilly village of Valbonne in a beautiful James Villa property. We decided to spend our last full day in the South of France taking in the chic city of Cannes, world famous for the Film Festive and as we had an early train back up to Paris the following morning from Cannes train station so it only made sense to spend the night, which despite the extravagant location we managed to do on a very reasonable budget. The two boys taking in the Promenade de la Croisette After dropping off the Fiat 500 we hired for the week we booked into the small but stylish Hotel Caroline which is perfectly located right in the centre on a lovely street filled with various bars, coffeeshops and restaurants and within easy walking distance of the beach. The room was nice ......

A beautiful day in Nice
With all the craziness of Christmas now behind us I can finally get around to finishing posting all about our amazing holiday to the South of France, as we went for two weeks and visited so many places it was only fair to break our mini adventures down into smaller posts - so this one is all about our day out in the wonderful city of Nice on the French Riviera. As some of you may already know I lived and worked in Nice for a few months before having Mr A and it was quite surreal going back but this time with the family in tow. With it being at the end of September we luckily missed all the manic peak period and really got to enjoy the promenade, walking around the old town, through the flower market where we also picked up some locally hand made soaps (they smelled so good) and a walk up the citadel without having to push our way through crowds of people. The weather was good, not too hot but warm enough for shorts and a t-shirt. We came across a beautiful antique Carou......
Before I had Mr A I spent a season working in Nice in the South of France and ever since then I have always wanted to return with the family in tow and show them what a beautiful part of the world it is, as well as explore more of the wonderful French Riviera, so what a better time than over my 30th birthday. We have all been feeling somewhat sun-starved of late and this week-long break in September to a warmer climate was just what we all needed, in fact I think it's been the longest Mr A has had spent in shorts and a t-shirt, which was really lovely to see. Since having Mr A our preferences when it comes to travelling have obviously changed and we much prefer to stay in self-catering accommodation these days as it's so much more accommodating when it comes to families so we were over the moon to be able to stay in such a beautiful Villa from James Villas and with the easy driving distance to both Cannes and Nice as well as literally minutes away from the beautiful vill......

Holiday sneak peak
So for those who don't follow me on instagram - I have been sharing a few sneaky peaks of our amazing holiday on there. We are finally back home after nearly two weeks away which included two nights in Paris before heading down to the South of France and our beautiful JamesVillas Villa, exploring the coast, riding the high-speed train across the french countryside and finishing with a fun night and day in London. We celebrated two birthdays, ate good food, swam in the pool and the sea, ate cake and way too much cheese and buttery delights, saw the sights all while running after our little man. Can't wait to share all of what we got up to with you all. ...
