Harnessing the Power of Special Offers When Travelling

travelling Europe

We all know life has become more expensive lately and there was a time when travel was fairly cheap. You could set a budget, jump on a train and find accommodation in most cities at rock bottom prices. Yet that has become less viable as everything from transport to food has suffered at the hands of global inflation. Yet you can still travel without spending the earth, if you plan in advance and harness the power of special offers to great effect.

Compare deals & check if travel agents can offer a cheaper rate

Many people believe that when they go online, they are cutting out the middleman to save themselves money. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Many comparison sites operate as a middleman regardless, and can sneak in increased fees and charges without you realising. While you can still find good deals this way, they are not always the best place to visit.

A travel agent also act as a middleman, but can sometimes have access to better offers and discounts as they often have personal relationships with hotels, airlines, cruises and more. Due to the sheer volume of business they bring, they can leverage this to get deals. If you are flexible regarding where you are going and plan in advance, you can often find some great special offers with them.

Use Offers to Try Something Different

A lot of sights of special interest and popular tourist attractions offer better deals online than they do on the gate, I found you can often save around 10% purchasing a ticket beforehand. Also sometimes signing up to a newsletter in advance can also come with a discount code so this is something to think of before travel - making a list of all the places you would like to visit and researching online to see if they offer cheaper tickets, some museums even often free entry at certain times of the month.

You can also use them to prepare for your experiences. See an offer on Duolingo? Then consider learning some of the local dialect at a bargain price. Or, for instance, people visiting the UK may want to experience a traditional British pastime, like bingo, which is frequently played at seaside towns and across the country. Online bonus bingo codes can help here by getting new international players into the game when they might not otherwise have discovered it.

In a similar way, you may find that discounts and other promotions for virtual experiences might get you into new digital hobbies in their own right. Then, further down the line, you might be encouraged to seek out the real thing in its country of origin. The best part is that you'll then already be well acquainted with your chosen pastime having tried it out online on a budget.

Be Flexible to Benefit From Special Offers

To get the most from special offers, you need to be a little bit flexible. If you have a specific location to visit on a given date, you may still be able to get them. However, by adapting and shifting, you can harness the best available and of course, travelling on shoulder and off-peak season is still the most affordable way to travel. The bonus of visiting a destination off-peak is fewer crowds and occasionally cheaper rates are tourist spots, which is always a bonus.

Special offers can be a huge help when travelling. The best ones come by looking in advance, and having some flexibility in your travel times, destinations or activities. By doing this, you will soon save money on your holidays, and may even experience something new along the way.

I always look out for things like Eurostar train sales, which they do a few times a year and travel companies such as Interrail also often offer black friday deals. If you are flexible, then there are still plenty of ways to save money on future travel.
