Baking with Bing + Giveaway

Isn't it strange how younger children natural levitate to some characters. Our youngest has limited screen time but one of the shows he adores is Bing Bunny and I can see why. It's toddler friendly but also tells gentle stories, social interaction and etiquette with others and good morals, plus it's easily digestible for all ages. He loves his Bing he had for Christmas so when we were sent a big bundle of Bing goodies his eyes were like saucers, especially for the Messy Cake Book and Easter Eggs books and has asked us to read it to him over and over especially while having breakfast. While my youngest its still a little small to help with the mixing side of baking he does like to eat the end product! Especially when its made with the help of his older brother. A really fun way to get toddlers excited about baking is the new Bing Baking App where they can roll out the dough and decorate the biscuits to their hearts content. It's really easy to use an......

Inspiring Literacy and Creativity + Giveaway

When it comes to screen time we don't watch an awful lot in our household and while the kids are still young we have restrictions but we do love a trip to the cinema for a day out and there is always something special about watching a movie on the big screen. When I heard about the new Star Wars films coming out I knew it would be one for the boys as John is a big fan of the original series and while I had my apprehensions about it I didn't want to stand in the way of a father and son connection as John has relieved his youth and passed on this enthusiasm for film to our son. So it was with much excitement when Egmont sent us some fantastic books to inspire reading and creativity at home. Also our eldest has a real fascination with space and I think Star Wars just has that natural attraction for the fantastical and incredible. With our eldest learning how to read we are always encouraging him to do this on his own steam at home but it can be hard finding things t......

Kitchen inspiration - finding the perfect fridge

When you think of your kitchen the first thing that probably comes to mind is worktops and lighting but what about the one appliance you use daily? Ours is built in but when we move later this year we don't plan to take it with us but rather opt for the Smeg fridge we have been craving for for years, even if it's not the most practical. Putting aesthetics aside it can actually be quite a hard decision finding one that fits both the needs of you and your family as well as the style of your kitchen and is often something that is overlooked. Being a really important purchase and an essential to your home it's a really good idea to know what to consider before you make the purchase. Here are a few tips to make the process as easy and as stress-free as possible.  Size and capacity The first thing you need to consider is how much food you need to store in your fridge/freezer. The storage capacity is usually managed in cubic feet, and generally co......

5 Tips for Helping Children Adjust when you move home

I know I've been talking about us moving for ages but we really are nearly at the finishing line in terms of getting the house ready to put on the market. This will be the 3rd move for our eldest so we have learnt a few things along the way about making the move less stressful and as easy an adjustment for the kids and wanted to share that with you if your planning to do the same soon.  You cannot mask the fact that no matter how organised you are to some extent moving will take it's toll on every member of the family. The realities of your move become a much bigger deal when you think about the impact on your family, especially if you have children. While adjusting for an adult might not seem like a total life-changer, keep in mind that leaving behind most everything that's familiar to your child can be potentially difficult. To children, moving to a different city or state could be akin to moving to an entirely different planet. Thankfully, moving your family ......
