Win a Family Ice Skating Experience at Celtic Manor

Celtic Manor Resort is know for it's Christmas Kingdom and seasonal events with it's stunning festive interior and Christmas dining. A few years ago I had the delight of trying out their Christmas afternoon tea and not only was it delicious but it was also a feast for the eyes with their mini Christmas pudding truffles and marzipan cups. We also took our son to meet Santa at Celtic Manor a few years ago and he really enjoyed the whole experience from decorating biscuits with Mrs Claus to meeting the reindeer and the big man himself.  Well, besides the afternoon tea and grotto ,there is also a fantastic undercover and all-weather ice rink which is open until the 7th January is a great option if you want to fight the crowds of Winter Wonderland in Cardiff. They also have a Bratwurst hut where you can pick up some traditional hot food and mulled win. Best of all I have an amazing experience for a family of four to give away, including a 45 min skating session, inclu......

Embracing winter outdoors, getting creative indoors

I thought I would write a little post about what we have been getting up to outdoors of late as well as our favourite things to keep us entertained indoors when the rain hits. We made the most of the mild autumn, seeing the leaves change in dramatic fashion and spent every dry day running around outside, unfortunately the start of winter saw us all come down coughs and colds and in Baby G's case teething coupled with Bronchitis. Luckily and fingers crossed we have got most of that out of the way and have started going on some mini adventures and enjoying the wonderful festive season and our "activity" advent has been going very well so far. Last weekend before picking up our Christmas tree we enjoyed a little jaunt around one of our favourite spots - St Fagans where we spotted lots of Robin Redbreasts darting around as well as trying to name different leaves as we are trying to learn all the names of Britain's most common trees. The past fortnigh......

Forest fun and Winter Wonderland

As a break from the house move I promised the little man we would have a fun day out and take him to the winter wonderland in town. We always spend at least an hour outdoors each day anyway so it's great that Cardiff also has a large park and green space called Bute Park, which is huge and has many dimensions to it, it's a very natural space with wooden sculptures and no plastic play park area. We really enjoyed rolling around in all the leaves, finding sticks, pretending to be pirates and spotting squirrels. There really is something wonderful about a sea and of fallen autumn leaves, I love how they crunch under my feet and besides summer is one of my favourite parts of the year, there is so much change in natural and it's wonderful to share it with the little man. After we had a really good run around in the park we made out way to Winter Wonderland, I was not sure what would be suitable for the little man but if anything we would at least have a nice h......
