Depending on where and who you are camping with, you will need to take the right precautions to ensure that everyone is safe at all times. You will need to bring some essentials, but also start laying down some rules with the other people in your party, and know what should be done in case something happens. Let's take a look at a few safety tips for your next camping trip. Plan Well in Advance You need to start thinking about things like the type of shelter you’re going to be using such as smaller tents for wild camping, van setups or glamping options. You want to consider the weather in the area you’re going to camp, and what amenities will be available to you. You should also look at your group and the type of activity they prefer. Some people might like to take it easy and go bird watching, while others might prefer things like whitewater rafting o......

5 Safety Tips for Your Next Camping Trip
We love camping and have done a lot of it over the years, we have camped from early spring through summer into autumn and each season requires different things and as long as you are prepared there isn't any reason why you cannot go camping in the autumn as a family. If you’re looking for a way to travel that allows you to disconnect from the fast pace of modern day life and spend time in nature, connecting with your family, whilst the weather’s still reasonably temperate, then now is the time to do it before winter really sets in. Not only does camping provide a cheap family holiday , but it’s also environmentally friendly and easy to organise as a family… indeed, it’s as simple as packing a few things in the boot and heading off into nature! Many people are noticing that life has become much more distracting in recent years, especially when it comes to family time and connecting with each other - due to smartphones, tablets, computers and video games it’s necessary to c......

Medieval Glamping at Warwick Castle
Like many young children, my two boys are knight crazy and are fascinated with anything historical from that era and jump at the chance of being able to dress up like knights at every opportunity. We had heard fantastic things about Warwick castle so when we had the chance to stay a night in one of their Kings Luxury Tents we were incredibly excited and just hope it would meet expectations. With all overnight stays in the Knights Village you get a two-day pass to the castle which means you don't need to rush and can take your time getting there. We arrived in the early afternoon and with the parking located only a minute away from the Knights Village and quick check-in meant we still had time to get to the castle after checking out our accommodation. We have done a lot of camping and glamping over the years and we always go in with an open mind as the amount of comfort can drastically different from one glamping experience to another but staying in the ......
Readers of my blog will probably know three things about my little family – we love spending time outdoors, we embrace the unexpected and we are always up for a fun and exciting challenge so when TK Maxx asked us to pop in store last week and check out their latest delivery of outdoor equipment and make this bank holiday an adventurous one, we jumped at the chance. I have been both a fan and customer of TK Maxx for many years as I love that you never know what you’re going to find and you have to approach any shopping trip like a treasure hunt and allow yourself to be open to the idea of Ridiculous Possibilities. The great thing is the stock is always changing as each store gets several deliveries throughout the week. What we picked up last week would be completely different from what’s in store today, so if you see something you love, grab it because once it's gone, it's gone and I have made that mistake more than once in my life. We had not been told exactly ......

Wild and Free lately
A few weeks ago we got sent an amazing Den Kit from Wild and Wonderfu l and Mr A was over the moon as he is counting down the days to when he will be old enough to join Beavers and start his Scouting journey, although over the past few weeks at one point or another at least two of us have been under the weather which has made our normal ventures a little bit trickier than usual. It seemed like we were all on the mend and enjoyed a short break in the countryside of Sussex but on our return it was clear both boys had bad coughs and I was coming down with something, luckily we are all remerging again fit and healthy. We plan to take this kit up the forest for a winter warming activity alongside a flask of hot chocolate and now that we are on the mend hopefully we can do this very soon. John and Mr A however have done a little dry run in the garden which they both really enjoyed especially as the kit includes camo face paint and a camping mug for a warming drink. We all ......

Camping in West Wales
Over the bank holiday we joined a few friends camping right on the tip of the West coast of Wales in beautiful St Davids - the UK's smallest city, really it's just a quaint and picture perfect seaside village but with a very impressive Cathedral that really takes your breath away. Even though we knew it was going to rain during half our trip it really made no difference to us, in fact it made it more of an adventure and there is nothing better than cosying up inside your lovely dry tent while it rains outside - there is something very natural about that. It was also lovely for Mr A to have so many friends to play with - all of different ages and at one point because of the rain they all piled into one tent and all that could be heard was laughter. He really is a very happy little camper. I also love to cook on our little campaign stove and how everything becomes very slow such as waiting for the water to boil for morning coffee - there is something w......

Glamping with Cariad Canvas
At the beginning of the month we spent 2 nights glamping on the Welsh coast, while enjoying amazing stories at Beyond the Border International Story-Telling festival. We normally camp at festivals but since it was Johns birthday weekend we decided to treat ourselves to a more "luxury" experience of glamping in a lovely Bell tent with Cariad Canvas . Mr A loves nothing more than camping, seriously if he could he would live in a tent, we thought maybe he would be a little put out he didn't get to put up the tent which he has become rather good at but he was instantly taken by the bell tent, bunting and lovely interior. So what are the Pro's and Con's of glamping rather than camping at a festival? Pro's 1. No setup or take down time 2. Packing less and in turn carrying less from the car to the campsite - major bonus 3. The tents are usually located on nice even pitches 4. Spacious interior with a small table, pillows and rug Con......
