A Simple Green Juice & why I support local produce

Cooking has been something I have really enjoyed even since before having children, I find spending time in the kitchen making fresh and healthy food really relaxing. I have always been keen on using natural whole foods and each week I have a small local organic salad box dropped off. Despite this I have a very tight weekly budget for a family of four of around £60 which includes my salad box, toiletries and all our meals which I cook from scratch most nights as well as bake treats for the boys when I can.  I tend to keep up with trends although I refuse to believe I need to pay an excessive amounts on the next "superfood" to keep healthy. Also I have a real belief that despite a lot of foods being packaged as healthy they are not always ethical choices which is something I am very interested in, trying to leave as little negative trace on this earth. Being a plant loving vegetarian I try and make educated choices but when it comes down to it I honestly think sim......

A busy Mums guide to getting Glowing Skin

When you become a parent time does two things, it moves faster than before and you have far less of it to yourself. Suddenly I look in the mirror and I see I am no longer that 20 something free spirited woman with little responsibly other than looking after myself and now I see a a mother in her thirties full of love for my boys but also with a few more lines than before from years spent becoming comfortable with myself. Over these years I have discovered how important taking time for basic self care is really important and here are a few simple tips on keeping that skin glow going no matter how busy you are.  Hydration Hydration is the cure all to your body’s needs. Drinking eight 8oz. glasses of water a day is what doctors recommend as the minimum water intake. Water flushes out toxins in your body, whether it’s pollution from the outside world, poor ingredients from food you’ve eaten, or from having a little too much fun at the bars the night before, H2O will t......

Travel essentials - Staying Safe in the Sun

As we wave goodbye to summer and start getting our heads around the idea that Autumn is almost on our doorstep we still need to take precautions when it comes to the sun and looking after our skin, especially if you are planning a winter sun break abroad. In the south of Wales it's been very up and down recently with some unseasonal hot and sunny days and these abnormally sunny spells are what catch people out. Like most parents in the UK as soon as the clouds part we are out the door, exploring everything the Welsh coastline has to offer but just because we are now in the latter stages of summer it doesn't mean you can't burn and therefore precautions still have to be made if your planning a couple of hours outdoors or even a short break in the coming half term, home or away. Having grown up in South Africa we often had talks and lectures on the importance of sun care as skin cancer is a real problem there which is no surprise as Cape Town, my hometown, has very l......

Organic Children sun care giveaway

So it's officially summer, words which makes us very happy. We are very much an outdoor type of family and intend to make the most of the good weather but this does not mean that we are completely going to throw caution to the wind in terms of skincare especially when it comes to Mr A who has fairly sensitive skin. I personally don't like putting unnecessary chemicals on his skin so I was really happy to hear about Organic Children Sun Lotion made by the lovely Green People . Of course though the product still needed to work, which I can say from our experience it does and in fact I use it as well now as it's non-greasy but moisturising and has no hidden nasties in it. I wanted to share some tips about keeping safe in the sun 1. For one the sun is good for us - it provides us with a natural release of Vitamin D which is what our body needs to absorb Calcium. It's also proven to make us feel happier, so do get out when you can but children (and Adults)......
