Six Tips To Get The Most Out Of your future Travel plans

*Contains affiliate links  While life feels like it's on hold right now in the UK, there is no harm in looking positively towards the future including laying down some plans to tick off those bucket list destinations. After 2020 I think we all feel like we are in need of a time to press pause on daily life as well as to reevaluate our lives after the rollercoaster we have been on this year.  If you are looking to get away next year here are six tips to get the most out of your next vacation. Prep Your Budget Firstly, it’s important to focus on making sure the budget is sorted. When it comes to prepping your budget, you want to look at what you have in savings currently and how much you might need for your trip away. At the moment, you might have some savings, and you plan to pay a deposit perhaps ahead of time. However, there are going to be some holidays where you need to pay the upfront bill as soon as you decide to book, although in these unsure times you want to read the ......

4 Easy ways to save money on Family Travel

When you love to travel as a family, it can sometimes seem like all your spare money gets spent on your adventures. In fact, you may even be holding off on doing some things and visiting particular places because you are worried about the cost involved. Happily, if you put the tactics below into action, family holidays don't have to cost a fortune. Something that means you and your brood can get away, and still have plenty of money in the bank. Read on to find out more. Explore the UK One way to get away on a regular basis without breaking the bank is to explore the UK instead of always heading abroad. After all, UK breaks usually mean that you don't need to pay for flights, or if you do they will be cheaper. You can also choose to travel there under your own steam in your own vehicle as well, something that can help save a fortune on public transport. Lastly, you have the option of choosing a short break, of one or two nights, something that can make your travel as a ......

Una St Ives, Cornwall - a Luxury Family Getaway

We were recently invited to spend a few days in St Ives courtesy of Vist St Ives to immerse ourselves in the laid back Cornish lifestyle and explore this popular seaside destination. After a smooth but longer than expected drive down (always surprised by how many times kids need toilet stops) it was with much excitement that we pulled into Una St Ives , a rural and relaxing retreat only stone's throw away from the bustle harbor town of St Ives. Despite it being quite late in the day at this point, in true Cornish fashion the sun was out and shone over the beautifully crafted wood clad self-catering homes. We had been left with an access code to our 4 bedroom property which we would call home for 3 nights and from the moment we stepped through the front door it became somewhat of a sanctuary for us. If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know we love self-catering when it comes to family trips as it offers more flexibility especially when your trav......

Lion & Pheasant Townhouse Hotel Review - Shrewsbury

If your a regular reader of my blog you may already know we recently spent a weekend in the beautiful medieval English town of Shrewsbury and stayed at the wonderful boutique style hotel Lion & Pheasant located on the Wyle Cop right next to the English bridge in a 16th building full with original features combined with a tasteful modern refresh. The location couldn't of been better as we could walk to all the main sites as well as being only moments away from the River Severn and is perfect for a weekend break. I wanted to share more about this place as it's personally somewhere we would recommend. In the main building they have selection of single and double rooms, some with roll top baths and all with breakfast. Just outside is a converted stable block which has been turned into a two bedroom self catering accommodation and was to be our home and is perfect for a family or group looking for a little sanctuary right in the heart of the town. The two large bedrooms......

How to be a Budget Savvy Traveller

Between John and I we have been to over 27 different countries and while that may not be loads in comparison to some it has taught us a fair amount about travelling on a budget and getting the best deal possible when it comes to booking. When we plan family trips I am usually the one assigned to finding the best deal from hotels to flights, trains and local transport which is something I love to do and I am a big fan of review sights such as trip advisor for getting a more realistic view on what to expect before checking in somewhere. The great thing about travelling today is the array of free resources available online, along with an abundance of comparison sites but this too can mean you end up sending a very long time looking for deals which actually you may up end missing out if you don't act at the right time. When it comes to booking your travel timing really is everything. In fact a well known online travel agency Opodo recently shared their insights into w......

Bosinver Farm Cottages, Cornwall Part 2

Last month we had the chance to spend a few amazing days down in Cornwall at the luxury self catering Bosinver Farm Cottages near St Austell, in my first post I focused on the accommodation and outdoor activities on offer, in this my second post I want to share what there is to do indoors, wether it be a rainy day or you fancy a dip in their heated pool, there is plenty to do. No stone has been left unturned at Bosinver when it comes to family friendly facilities and what's best is everything is included in the price, from the wifi to gym equipment, wellies, umbrellas and a film library, it's all free to use. What was a real hit with both of the boys was the designated Play bar which had something for everyone including treadmills and a cross-trainer should you feel the need to get fit while the kids have fun. The play barn was particularly useful when we had a very wet day and after a mid-morning adventure we headed back to the farm and I had a ch......

Planning for a Spanish and French adventure

As much as we love cultural city breaks we also enjoy a more slower paced holiday and one that preferably involves sunshine and swimming pools so this year we are planning a trip to Spain and the South of France, with our eye on the area in and around San Sebastian and Urrugne which has a stunning coastline famed for it's world class surfing and blissful dry summer season. The last time I was in Spain was for a week in Barcelona and wow what a colourful and creative city but this time we have decided to explore somewhere new and I must admit that even though San Sebastian is a city we do plan to stay a bit further out and enjoy relaxing as a family and taking it easy as well as hoping over the boarder and exploring the more rural villages of the South of France. One of the reasons we have picked this part of Spain and France is because we can take an overnight Ferry from either Plymouth or Portsmouth down to Bilbao which for one will be a really interesting way to trav......
