I don't know about you but I am excited about the prospect of festival season finally being back after a very bumpy two years which saw many festivals and events being cancelled (which was the right reason at the time). While of course the virus has not gone away it does to an extent appear to be more manageable and therefore summer festivals have finally got the green light to go ahead again. I've taken my kids to festivals ever since they were babies, in fact my youngest went to Just So Festival at the tender age of 5months. It's something we love to do as it offers a break away from normality and a chance to indulge the senses in music, art, creativity and street food, along with camping and a sense of getting back to nature while also connecting with others. Of course there are some festivals which are simply not tailored for the younger audience and others which main focus is children - I like to find a good balance between the two, a festival that offers something f......

Camp Bestival Festival Fashion
So thought I would share a quick little outfit posts from our recent family adventure to Camp Bestival. I love festivals as it's a great excuse to wear things you may not always have time to wear in the "real" world. I love this retro style Joe Browns dress and every fun opportunity I have to wear it I do and Camp Bestival was perfect for it and I think it goes well with the wellies if I don't say so myself. I am wearing - Joe Browns Dress, Boden Wellies, SXCU sunglasses. I have also linked up with Casual Friday , Passion for Fashion and Style Elxir ...

Ultimate summer driving playlist
So with two festivals under our belt this summer and a few little getaways, it means that we have spent quite a lot of time in the car and anyone knows when you embark on an awesome road trip you need an equally awesome playlist to pop into the car stereo to put you in the mood for fun and adventure. With Camp Bestival being just over a 3hour drive we needed something not only to inspire our trip but also to keep us alert and focused on a long trip, as nothing keeps you more wide and awake than singing along to your favourite tunes. So when Money Super Market asked me to share our favourite tunes we couldn't wait. I went for a chilled theme with influences from rock, folk and everything in between and when it comes to music it can be a real personal choice so we went for a pre-festival chill out mix. What makes a road trip soundtrack even better is having a decent sound system with the best under seat subwoofer as this will make a huge difference to the overall experie......

Camp Bestival Highlights
Well we have had another manic weekend, with four nights spent under canvas, walking up and down the rolling hills of Ludworth Castle in Dorset and chilling next to a campfire at night and enjoying all that was on offer at the family friendly music festival that is Camp Bestival. We arrived home yesterday in one piece but shattered. They say images tell a thousand words and when I have caught my breath I shall post a proper review but for now here are some of our favourite photos from the weekend... Fun in the Dingle Dell forest The two boys getting arty John showcasing his new lighthouse tattoo I have joined in with this weeks Country Kids, for families who love spending time outdoors and Travel Tuesday for peeps who love to travel ...

The importance of good camping equipment
As you may already know we love to camp, with think it's a great way to spend quality time with the family and is not only different but refreshing and exciting and it's always lovely to really switch off from reality and spend sometime under canvas. You can be as uncomfortable or as comfortable as you want and you can infact feel like your "Glamping" while camping as long as you invest in good quality equipment. We cannot wait for Camp Bestival which is in less than 10 days time, our second festival of the year. We went to our first at the end of spring and as I have mentioned before the evenings became very cold but because we had some amazing season 3 sleeping bags we didn't feel it at all. Karrimor Hibernated 3 Season sleeping bags We got our sleeping bags a while ago and I cannot recommend the Karrimor Hibernate 3 Season mummy bags from Sports Direct , they are very reasonable to buy, have some great specs with a double layer offset and hoo......
So as you probably know we love a good festival - the excitement, the camping, meeting of similar minds and of course the music and one way to push the experience even further is giving an european festival a try. For one you probably have more chance of good weather, as well as inspiring settings, different food and culture and if your worried about the language barrier don't be, music has no barriers. Beautiful Lisbon, Portugal I couldn't think of anything better to do right now than jetting off to somewhere hot, since all of this British sun is making me miss my time in the South of France, a european beach city festival break would be right up my street. So if you are equally looking for something different why not check out the amazing lineup at the Optimus Alive 2 in Lisbon, Portugal, from the 12-14th July, you would need to get a move on, although you can pick up some cheap flights to Portugal, so why not throw caution to the wind and just do it. Optimus include......
I took these photos back in the day the The Workhouse festival, 2006 Before we had the little man we were both in our own ways festival goers, John going to Reading and me rocking out year on year at Glastonbury, Lovebox, Beach Break Live and Guilfest to name a few and why should having children stop the festival spirit and fun? Yes it will make things at times harder and it will change the experience but that doesn't mean it won't be as enjoyable and fulfilling. The key is in the planning, pick a festival that has family facilities and is keen for children to be involved and has some sort of entertainment for them. Another very important tip is to have good camping equipment, I will go into more detail about this later in the post. We are hoping to attend at least one overnight festival this year, with the little man in tow and we are really looking forward to it, come rain or shine. Me a few years back at a festival with my trusty two-man tent. 5 UK Family Frien......
