The perfect adventure weekend at Mendip Basecamp, Somerset

*Thanks to Mendip Basecamp for inviting us to stay for 2 nights in exchange for an honest review. This was an unpaid press trip and all words are my own.  If you are looking for off-grid, back-to-basics camping in a truly fantastic location that still has everything you need and more than you need to check out Mendip Basecamp in the Mendip Hills, Somerset. Surrounded by ancient woodland which waiting to be explored, this very spacious campsite is perfect for families looking to get away and enjoy the simple things this summer. This family-run campsite may be off-grid but still has plenty of hot showers and clean toliets as well as a well-equipped camp shop with a big sand pit for children to play in, along with a cosy country lodge on-site only a few minutes walk through the woods, which serves up hearty meals and offers family-friendly live music on the weekends along with a big fire pit perfect for smores.  But don't worry if camping isn't your thing, they also offer privat......

Huntstile Organic Farm Part 2

So after a manic past few weeks I have finally found the time to put together a little vlog about our stay at the beautiful Huntstile Organic Farm in Somerset this summer as part of Dorset Cereals search for the Best B&B in the UK, you can see my first instalment about this wonderful B&B here . It truly was one of our highlights of the summer as we had three blissful days of sunshine, wide open spaces to roam and explore, delicious breakfast each morning and a relaxing pace of life, we couldn't ask for anything more really.  I often think the more simple the break the better, we didn't have any grand plans of what to do but mainly enjoyed the surrounds and the owners of Huntstile really encourage you to explore the farm, have a wander around the vegetable garden and poly tunnels, feeding the farm animals in the morning to relaxing in the large living room cozying up with a book and a cup of coffee. While we were in Somerset we did do ......

Canopy & Stars Collective

The sunning bath inside the treehouse.  Last month Baby G and I hopped over the border into England for an exciting little shindig with a few other bloggers at the stunning Harptree Court to learn more about the very stylish and unique luxury glamping holiday company that is Canopy & Stars and being already being fans of C&S I couldn't wait to hear more over a relaxed lunch in beautiful surroundings with friends. Harptree itself is a stunning property located in the heart of Somerset only half an hour from Bristol, and it houses two C&S properties in the form of a luxury treehouse and beautiful yurt, as well beautiful B&B rooms in the actually Manor house. Surrounding by fields and nature its a perfect place to get away and it was a real treat to have a tour around the house with the owners who talked through the history of the place. We also enjoyed a relaxed midday stroll around the kitchen garden with an amazing variety of flowers, fruit an......

Exploring Fyne Court, Somerset

Earlier this month we headed down to Somerset for three blissful days, taking in as much of the beautiful countryside and connecting with nature as much as possible. On our last day after checking out of our self catering loft at Huntstile organic farm we decided to first visit a Fyne Court , a National Trust site a few miles away, before heading back home to Wales and we are so glad we did. Before leaving the farm we did a last minute check over of the car as we were in a rural location to start with and Fyne Court was also located in the countryside and both were a few hours drive from home. Making sure the car is in tip top condition during our road trips is always a must and taking basic autocare precautions such as checking the oil and water is something we always do Set in a rural hamlet, Fyne Court is a stunning and free National trust estate with a courtyard that houses a cosy little cafe, lots of walks and woodland to explore, a folly, boathouse and la......

Huntstile Organic Farm Part 1

As some of you may already know, breakfast is our not only our favourite meal but also favourite time of the day. Its like the calm before the store when we all sit down as a family before the business of the day starts and John heads off to work. Then the weekend comes and either pancakes or homemade waffles is a tradition on a lazy Sunday morning along with fresh banana, apple, some seeds and a dash of maple syrup and your off to a winner. So when Dorset Cereals who have recently teamed up with Sawdays asked us to not only celebrate Breakfast but also the best British B&B's serving them up we couldn't wait to be apart of it. Each month 12 shortlisted B&Bs will be posted on Dorset Cereals website where fans can nominate their favourites for the first Dorset Cereals B&B Awards . One of the B&B's up for the award is Huntstile Organic Farm in Somerset and I honestly have to say if your ever looking for a truly stunning and peaceful getaway that is al......
