6 Family friendly things to do in Brecon, Wales

While most people have heard of the famous Brecon Beacons, a large mountainous area of Southern Wales jam-packed with hikes, peak summits, trig points and outdoor pursuits and a playground for those who love the outdoors. But what about the actual town of Brecon and the immediate surrounding area? There is plenty to do within close proximity of the bustling market town of Brecon, which also has an abundance of accommodation (including dog-friendly accommodation) and makes for a great base to explore the wider area, but if you only have a day or want to keep it more local here are a few things to do in and around (no more than 10mins away) of Brecon Town centre.  1. Easy Exercises for Busy Parents

*This post contains affiliate links I don't go to the gym but I do make sure that I move my body daily, it helps with my well-being and mental health so much as well as calm my mind and helps me balance work, parenting and life better. With a little adaptability, if you want it, even as busy parents, we can to an extent find time and can include more exercise in our daily routine. I can say first-hand how much exercise boosts your mood, make you feel calmer and more in control and can even improve other areas li......

Pen Pych Waterfall Hike

One of our favourite hikes of the late summer was a walk up to Pen Pych Waterfall in the Welsh Valleys near the small village of Blaencwm. I know thousands of people flock to the Brecon Beacons to take in the beautiful Waterfall hikes and trails but if your looking for a far quieter and child-friendly hike then this is a great option. We went on a Sunday around lunchtime and only came across other people on our way back down, it was so nice and quiet and it meant we could take our time and walk at our own pace. When you arrive into Blaencwm there are signs for the mountain carpark which has plenty of space and is free to park. At the far right end of the car park is the start of the Pen Pych Mountain trail which initially veers away from the waterfall through a meadow and then back around into a forest area where a gentle incline starts. As we did this near the end of the summer everything was green and slightly overgrown with huge ferns and we also spotted some mushro......
