His and Her Style

Zara dress

Although summer feels like it's been a bit of a none starter I still stocked up on a few summer essentials such as picking up a new pair of sandals, I came across these in New Look and love the slight platform heel which is perfect for me as I am only 4ft 11 and it gives me a little height while still being very comfortable and practical for running around with kids. I also came across this basic striped dress from Zara, I have to admit I am not a huge dress wearer but I like this paired up with a chambray or biker jacket. I really like this dress as not only is is good for summer but it's also perfect for those transitional periods between summer and autumn and can be dressed up with accessories.

John has also been embracing summer, on those rare warm days with his Ralph Lauren bucket hat, or as he refers to as his festival hat as well as picking up a pair of Woven Nike Mayfair trainers. I have to say though at heart John is very much a person who loves to wear jackets, in fact I think his favourite seasons are autumn and spring so he can wear layers such as this red Fjällräven jacket.

Mens fashion

Our ethos in the house is always less is more, neither of us really purchase things that are necessarily  "on trend" but rather classic pieces that add to our wardrobe and can be worn more than one season. Also investing in one or two well made items than lots of low quality fashion pieces that fall apart after wearing them a few times. As some of you may already know John is a traditional Barber and is on his feet all day and his leather brogues have really come to an end. I feel sometimes men don't invest enough in their daily workwear when they really should especially if it requires many hours walking or standing.

Having recently purchased the Mayfly's he is now on the look out for a new pair of work shoes and he recently came across Anatomic shoes which are hand made shoes from Brazil which not only capture that classic city style but are also said to be incredibly comfortable and come in at around the £100 mark.

  1. Great pictures and lovely outfits! Like you I tend to go towards more classic pieces rather than trend driven items that won't last more than a season x

  2. I don't wear dresses all that often either, but when I do (Summer usually) I team them with a denim jacket (or leather on cooler days). It makes the outfit look more casual, which suits my personality better (never been the dressy type). Tx
