Mindful moments with Stars and Sage

Bath ritual

I was recently invited to try out the Stars and Sage monthly bath ritual box and as I have been struggling to find a decent work-life balance of late I really liked the concept of this box which encourages a little "me time" in your own home in a natural and holistic way. Now I have always been someone who when time allows would opt for a bath over a shower as it's just so relaxing and a great way to wind down after a manic day.

When it comes to subscription boxes and beauty products one of my main concerns is that the products are as ethical and cruelty-free and what I love about Stars and Sage's boxes is that this ethos is equally important to them. Firstly the box is made out of cardboard and recyclable and the products within are both high end while you can see time and care has been taken to curate a box that is as natural, organic and ethical as possible.

Bath ritual

When you open the box there is a little booklet inside telling you how best to use the products but also how to create a calming environment and meditating tips to get the most out of the experience. Once I ran the bath, lit a candle then it was time to sprinkle the Coconut milk and Raw Vanilla Bath soak by Sister and Co which is 100% natural, vegan and comes in a glass jar. It was so soothing for my skin with the kaolin clay working as a gentle exfoliate and the vanilla leaving a lovely lingering scent. You can also add a few drops of the organic Rosemary essential oils which comes with the box. Rosemary is great for a little mental lift as is often used for stress and anxiety relief, something which I suffer from time to time and this really helped me able to switch off for a moment.

Next was the Isla Apothecary Blood orange and vanilla moisturising sugar scrub which smelled so delicious I was very tempted to eat it (of course I didn't!). This sugar scrub is handcrafted in small batches and is all natural and vegan and also came skin exfoliating gloves. This scrub is great for buffing the skin and getting rid of all those free-radicals leaving it lovely and smooth without any greasiness.

Then I finished off with the divine organic African orange and aromatic hand and body lotion by Evolve and again is 99% natural and made in the UK. This lotion left my skin feeling really hydrated without being oily and the Shea butter made my skin feel soft with a touch of blood orange fragrance which was wonderfully subtle and not overpowering.

Ethical beauty

So is the box worth it?

The boxes retail at around £27 per month for a 3-month subscription or £29 for a one-off box and I was really impressed with the high-quality ethical products in the box and you can be used these many times over. The Sister and Co Bath soak alone costs £25 and the total value of this box is about £49 which is excellent and makes it well worth it. This is also perfect for a meaningful gift and something I am going to keep in mind for birthdays and Christmas.
