Encouraging Entrepreneurship in your children

Like most parents I want to encourage a sense of independence and self belief when it comes to ideas and creativity within my children. I don't want them to doubt themselves when it comes to business and have the confidence to take calculated risks. What is also extremely important is that they both know the value of money and that you need to work hard to achieve ones goals and I don't think it's ever too early to encourage entrepreneurship especially as both John and I are self-employed we want our children to know that they can choose to follow their own dreams. My eldest loves role playing, whether it be pretending to make soups and salads on his mini kitchen or getting his play mobile men to purchase tickets for his train track he sets up it's really fun to watch and is the perfect way to gently lay the foundations of business skills he may need in the future.

I personally have fond memories of setting up a craft stall with my friends as a kids business weekend, as well as baking cakes for cake sales and selling avocados from our avocado huge tree on Rugby match days in South Africa which always did really well and making our own money was something that was encourage in my family. Then when I was old enough I use to help out at my fathers law firm, often folding and sticking letters and then taking them to the post office in exchange for pocket money as we were never just handed anything in our household, we had to work for it.

Kids business

During the half term Vauxhall got in touch to see if my eldest fancied putting together his own Kids Carwash and I have to say it was one of the most fun we had during the holidays. They sent us a starter pack of everything he needed to get started and he had so much pride writing his name on his business cards and giving them out to friends and family, he even got the next door neighbours children involved in washing our van and he managed to delegate jobs perfectly. He made sure to hang his "Car Wash in progress" sign for everyone to see and took his job very seriously, making sure the car was spotless from tip to toe and the funny thing is if he had not felt in control of situation and in charge I'm sure I would of struggled to get him to clean the car for more than an hour but because he was filled with pride for his own business he wanted to do the best job he could.

The fantastic thing is if you want to have fun helping your little ones set up their own Mini Carwash Franchise I have 10 Starter kits from Vauxhall to giveaway. Each kit contains a Bucket, sponge and squeegee, a pop-up kids carwash sign, business cards, How-to guide, badges and a fold your own money box. It's super easy to enter and the Giveaway ends on the 24th November 2016
