Bluestone Log cabin and Family travel

05/02/2015

As some of you may already know we recently had a 4 night mid-week stay at the stunning Bluestone National Park Resort in West Wales - you can see what we go up to in my last post about this trip. This time however I am talking more about the accommodation side of things. We stayed in one of the Ramsey Lodges which sleeps up to 4 people in two bedrooms (one with a double, one twin). It's upside down living, which means the open plan living room is upstairs which gives you fantastic views across the resort.

Upstairs was all open planned with a dinning table and chairs where we ate every evening, then a relaxing area with couches, coffee table and flat-screen TV and of course the kitchen space which was equipped with everything you needed. There stairs were fitted with child locks making it nice and safe for young children and the lodge was spotless when we arrived.

The bedrooms, which are located downstairs each had their own en-suite, one with a wet room and the other with a bad/shower combo, both well designed and spacious. The beds were very comfortable and we all had very restful sleep with lovely warm duvets. As we stayed during winter keeping the lodge warm was a priority which was pretty easy with the little electric wall heaters, the only problem is if you leave them on too long the air can become quite dry. The only other issue we had was with the log cabins being located in a rural area bringing mud inside with a young child was pretty easily done and there was no doormat to wipe your boots or area to store them, which of course is not a huge problem but if you had a few kids it would probably be best to leave any mud footwear outside.

Each log cabin has fast free wifi which I didn't have an issues with and is a great little feature although to be honest we didn't really use much of it or the TV as we wanted to disconnect as much as possible. As the site is carefree, each cabin also has a little space outside to park a gold buggy, which we hire at a cheaper last minute price and the little man loved riding around in it. Overall the accommodation was really spacious and perfect for 3-4 people and it was lovely looking across the resort through the large windows upstairs each morning over breakfast. We would love to return as this is a great place for a family Staycation

  6. We stayed in the lodge and loved it too! Especially Theo as he called it the 'upside down house' and still talks about it! I love how well stocked it was for self catering, could imagine spending a few weeks there and having it as a proper base!
