Mercure Eastgate Oxford

Eastgate Oxford hotel

Last month Mr A and I set of on an mini adventure to Oxford, not only to have a little bit of time exploring this wonderful city but also enjoying some Christmas delights at the Bicester Step into Christmas event. Oxford is such a visualising inspiring city and has to go into my top 10 of favourite British destinations and think this was only helped by the fact that The Mercure Eastgate Townhouse hotel was so perfectly located, just off the high street down a quaint cobble road with a wonderful outlook across some old historical University buildings and even though it was right in the city centre it was very peaceful and quite inside. The hotel has a contemporary interior with colours that really pop and works surprisingly well in such a character style building.

We were given a Mercure Privilege Room in the eaves and it was perfect, it had a lovely and spacious seating area, minbar, nespresso machine, office desk and large double bed and free wifi. The bathroom was spotless and had a nice deep bath perfect for relaxing in. I love that the room had beautiful original windows, it felt really quaint but with all the modern conveniences. In the morning we headed down to the restaurant where they had a great selection of cereals, pastries, fresh bagels and a selection of cheeses, jams as well as made to order dishes such as the breakfast muffin topped with a poached egg that the little man went for.

The staff were all very friendly and welcoming especially towards Mr A and I would recommend this hotel if your travelling with young kids as it's located right next to the Oxford Botanical Gardens and and an walk to the Natural History Museum, as well as many cafes and shops right on your doorstep. We hope to visit again sometime in the new year as we really feel in love with Oxford and cannot wait to share more of our mini adventure with you soon.
